Today's Update: +13 Spins +31 Bullet -0.139 Aud.
Rebound? They need more spins to hold onto #3 by Sunday. Otherwise they'll be passed by 3Oh!3.

Nice! How long has it been since we last had some quality Rock in the charts? A long long time, that's for sure. Rock music's been rare all the way through this past decade. Hope this isn't another one off. Would be nice to have some diversity back for the next round. More diversity=broader public=more sales.

IMO the years 2000-2001...Creed, 3 Doors Down, Vertical Horizon, Filter, Foo Fighters, Puddle Of Mudd, Linkin Park, Lifehouse (Hanging By A Moment), Calling, Nickelback, Default, Staind, Incubus, Eve 6, Lenny Kravitz Yeah wish a lotta those bands had kept up the hits throughout the decade...

I agree COMPLETELY. Some of the best songs I've ever heard in any genre are by all these artists mentioned. MAN, do I miss Creed, 3 Doors Down, Incubus, Eve 6, Lenny....all of them!

This is the third song in history to have completed a Billboard "Hat Trick" (Yeah, I'm just now learning of this too). Apparently, one of billboard's hat tricks (assuming there's more than one, don't really know, this could be the only one) involves the Mainstream Rock Chart, the Modern Rock Chart, and the Adult top 40 chart. Basically, when a song hits number one on all 3 charts, they are granted the hat trick. The other two songs? "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "One Headlight." Not bad company.
To give you an idea, "How You Remind Me" missed out when it peaked at number 2 on the Adult Top 40 chart. Pretty cool, I guess.

Drop to #4, so that's their official peak.

What is their upcoming single? "Sound of Madness" is already out, and it's now number one on Mainstream Rock. But, of course, that was never going to be a pop single. They had a poll between: Breaking Inside, Call Me, The Crow & the Butterfly, and If You Only Knew for the next pop single though. No word on the results yet.

Yeah same...Enter Sandman by Metallica actually hit Top 40 when it came out, but I think back then a lot of smaller markets didn't have Alt./Active stations Kinda remember In The End sounding really weird IMO on CHR when it came out, and all these people in radio debatin whether or not pop stations were gonna get hit in ratings for playin stuff that was "hard-edged"

Here's a question:
When was the last time an artist had the number one Adult Top 40 song, and the number one Hot Mainstream Rock Track song, at the same time, but with different songs?
This past week, the second single, "Second Chance," hit number one on Adult Top 40. Also, the third single, "Sound of Madness," hit number one on Mainstream Rock.
I have a feeling Nickelback has done it at some point, just wanted to know if anyone had any numbers.

^I believe Nickelback did do it with Photograph on HAC, and Animals on Main Rock. Don't know if that was the last time though.

And under 10 years later, it looks like the majority of this crop are having another go at it...although it looks like this time, the closest chance they have at earning mainstream success is in Hot AC and/or Triple A. So far from that list, Nickelback has managed to put out a decent number of hits over this decade. With at least one song, so has 3 Doors Down ("It's Not My Time") ever since "Here Without You" back in 2003. Alongside them are mainly newer acts like Shinedown ("Second Chance"), Saving Abel ("Addicted") and Hinder ("Lips of an Angel"). Buckcherry also stands out, although they've been around for quite a while but "Sorry" became their biggest hit in late 2007/early 2008.

^Three Days Grace manages to get a hit here and there as well. In fact, more so than 3 Doors Down. Kinda surprising the more I think about it.

Yes, that's true. I forgot about Three Days Grace ("Never Too Late"), and also Finger Eleven ("Paralyzer").
Although I'm pretty sure 3 Doors Down ("It's Not My Time") had a very high peak on CHR.
In addition to the aforementioned songs, does anyone know the peak position on CHR for Linkin Park ("What I've Done")?

I was also thinking about "I Hate Everything About You" and "Just Like You," which also did well for 3DG. I was thinking more of the quantity of songs I guess. And I think "Pain" peaked at like number 42 or something.
