Thank God they're finally going to release this. It was mentioned in a press release (and a blog on their site) that this song would be going to Top 40 radio in January. "Second Chance" is the second single from their third studio album, The Sound of Madness
Most of you probably aren't very familiar with these guys, but they did have one top 40 hit a couple years ago with "I Dare You," the second single off their previous album, Us & Them. IDY got a nice push thanks to a performance by Chris Daughtry on American Idol, afterward the song peaked in the 30s on the CHR/Top 40 Chart.
Active Rock is their core format though, of the nine singles they've released in their career, ALL of them have hit the top 5. This one, currently sits at number 2 and by next week could very easily become their 3rd number one hit.
One video is already out, and it is based on footage and stories that their fans sent them about their "Second Chances." Though the band put the video together, it is not considered the official video, they plan on filming that in the next month. Hopefully this takes off and we can hear some decent rock music on the airwaves. I can only take but so much Nickelback, Hinder, and Saving Abel.

This is a good rock song, but I don't know about pop crossover. They're just not really a top 40 appealing band, which is fine by the way. That said, I think this is more CHR friendly than IDY, but like Phobia said, IDY had the AI exposure to help it. I'd be pleasantly surprised to see this crossover though, if it does do it.

This sounds great for pop actually. If I Dare You made it, this should too

I just don't find the chorus catchy enough for pop radio to really latch onto. The pre-chorus has a better hook than the chorus for pop, imo.

love this song, happy theyre sending it to pop. i can actually see this doing real well here..after seeing songs like addicted and lovers in japan have success, this should do particularly well. imo top 30 is a good possibility.

Yes this is perfect.
You can't make assumptions on what would be a hit. Think Addicted. Also Never Too Late was a decent pop hit

Finally LOL. Heck, in my perfect world, I would hear "Devour" at my Top 40 station but yeah I'll settle for this. Yeah, this should do better than IDY because it's softer but... IMO IDY has a catchier hook and like "Never Too Late" this one has a very depressing tone to it.

I don't see why this won't do well. Lately Pop radio has been a bit more receptive to Rock and Alternative songs. Though they sound completely different, a good example of this would be Coldplay's "Lovers In Japan." Who actually thought that would chart? It may be low but still...
Just in the last year: Blue October, Three Days Grace, Seether, Coldplay, Flyleaf, and as much as I hate them, Buckcherry, Saving Abel, and Hinder have all had success on the pop chart. Even Theory of a Deadman's Bad Girlfriend is getting a few spins. I think the door is open for a rock song to breakthrough and make a big impact. Never Too Late should've been that song, but I think now radio is even more receptive to that idea.
Perhaps I'm too optimistic, but I think that with the right promotion this could easily go top 20. I'm expecting a top 40 performance, but I would be thrilled with top 30.

NICE! I remember "I Dare You". Good song. And this is a good song, too. Definitely miles better than Addicted or Sorry or Without You. This could/should go Top 20. The sound of the strings helps with the song's Pop appeal IMO. I also thought that Shattered was gonna reach Top 20 but it got stuck, but I hope this one can make it. Thanks Phobia for the info! :)

Now that I 100% agree with. LH is about as sure of a pop crossover as you can get for a rock/alt song, imo. It will be a travesty if it never gets an adds date. Right now I'm going to guess a #25 ish peak for this.

This has reached a new peak on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Chart. It moved up one spot on the Mainstream chart to number 2, and moved down one spot on the Modern Rock chart to number 6. It still has a good bullet on alternative, and it even increased in plays. The only reason it fell out of the top 5 is because alternative staple Incubus is climbing up the chart with "Love Hurts." My guess is ithat "Second Chance" will peak at number four there.
Current Peaks: Mainstream Rock #2 Modern Rock #5 Hot 100 #91 Canadian Hot 100 #91
Interestingly enough, last week this song debuted on both the U.S. and Canadian Hot 100's at 98 and 96 respectively. With Apocalyptica and Adam Gontier's "I Don't Care" losing steam, my money is that next week this will be the number one Mainstream Rock song in the country.

This already getting some notice on itunes. It's up to number 100, I know that doesn't sound like much but I don't recall them ever having much success on itunes or in downloads in general.

119 99 SHINEDOWN Second Chance Atlantic 41 29 12 0.083 Wow, that's unexpected, thanks for the numbers. They said on their site that it's not going for adds until next month, if that's the case, then this is really good news. Maybe with the recent itunes success and the fact that it's about to go to #1 on Active Rock made the label decide to make an early push.
