I don't understand why Offer sped up Ofra's vocals on "Latet".....the song is beautiful, and so is her voice, but he made her sound like a chipmunk. It kind of ruined the song in my opinion :(

I don't understand why Offer sped up Ofra's vocals on "Latet".....the song is beautiful, and so is her voice, but he made her sound like a chipmunk. It kind of ruined the song in my opinion :( When I was trying to re-create the "Eastern Drums" mashup using the original album version of "Latet", I had a hard time getting the vocals pitched up that high. The tempo of the original song isn't all that slow or fast (120-ish if I recall correctly). At first, I thought he had used an alternate take of the vocals, kinda like how he used the intro parts from the live version of "Im Nin'Alu" for that Madonna mix in 2005. Since Offer did take the time to do additional production and stuff on it, he didn't have to pitch up the vocals that much or at all. I recall someone (I think it was DJ MichaelAngelo) who said that one big rule of thumb for doing mashups and remixes is to never change the original pitch of the vocals. Offer hardly used any vocals from the original song too. The mashup version that he played live used most of them.

Yeah I heard the mashup version, it honestly sounded better. Ofra Haza is AMAZING and this mix (even though the beats are hot) ruined what which makes her sound so unique-her voice!

Radio edits of "Out Of My Skin" and "Poison" as well as the full mixes of "Maganuna" and "Latet" are posted on his MySpace. www.myspace.com/offernissimOffer has just remixed Barbra Streisand's recording of "Avinu Malkeinu". This is a traditional Jewish prayer. Here is more info about that.
