I thought "I Can't Outrun You" was a lock! But I guess they won't let him release two ballads in a row. Stupid label politics.

I really like 'Marry For Money' and it definitely should be a single but I agree that 'I Can't Outrun You' should have been released. However, I read an interview he did with CMT where he states the chances of 'ICOY' and 'Til The Last Shot's Fired' being singles are slim to none :(

I saw Trace last month in Toronto with AJ and he sang Marry For Money - it's a great song - really liked it. I also like I Can't Outrun You. This was my first time seeing Trace live and I was really impressed! Watch out AJ! LOL!

I heard this for the first time on the radio yesterday.
I really like it a lot. It's very 90's country souding, my favorite sound. The lyrics are very witty too.
This just might make me a Trace fan again.

Not really a fan of this. It's going to be one of those songs that are "just there" for me.

I heard about half of this song the other day for the first time and I really liked it. I like the style of the music. Sounds like a good swing dance song, lol. I thought this was going to be something like Honkytonk Badonkadonk based on the title, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I wish I could figure out why he doesn't think 'ICOY' wouldn't be a smash at country radio.
He's one of the best balladeers in the format, his career seems to be going very well right now (having the #2 single of 2008 on top of finishing #10 among the format's most played artists last year according to the folks at Mediabase will certainly give his career a kick in the pants!!), and his exquisite performance of 'You're Gonna Miss This' at the CMAs was downright mesmerizing and then some IMHO.
'MFM' could conceivably reach the top twenty, but I'm still disappointed in this choice as a single froma very solid CD.

I don't think it's that bad a choice at least he didn't go with "Sweet" that one I can't stand. I was really excited for ICOY though :(

I think radio asked for this one so the label switched it up. Don't be surprised if "Can't Outrun You" gets released down the line. This is likely a 2 year record for Trace.

Billboard review:
Marry for Money TRACE ADKINS Producer(s): Frank Rogers Label/Catalog Number: Capitol Nashville
Trace Adkins continues to impress as one of country's most versatile talents, segueing effortlessly between such poignant ballads as the Grammy Award-nominated "You're Gonna Miss This" to the stirring gospel-flavored "Muddy Water" to this hilarious romp. "Marry for Money," culled from his excellent "X" collection, proves once again that the singer can do it all and do it well. It's a humorous look at a man who married for love and got his heart broken, so he decides next time to go for big bucks. Cleverly written by Dave Turnbull and Jimmy Melton, "Money" is sheer fun and Adkins' tongue-in-cheek performance is full of personality and panache. Already a concert favorite, this song promises to be a sure-fire hit. —Deborah Evans Price

I don't usually like Trace's uptempo tunes but I like this one.

It blew onto 'CT40' at a very impressive #30 this week, which should make for a very nice spike in airplay at both BB & Country Aircheck/Mediabase, and at BB in particular.

What's remarkable is that this song will only be 5 weeks old this week, and it will already be within a few spots of Muddy Water's peak. Over Trace's last 9 singles, 4 have peaked in the Top 2, and the other 5 failed to even crack the Top 15. What's strange is that before that run, Trace placed 6 consecutive singles between #5 and #17. Now he's getting some bigger hits, but his consistency is gone. Regardless, this looks like it is headed for the T5, and probably #1. I wasn't crazy about this single choice at first, but it's really grown on me and it's a very clever song.

i think "happy to be here" would make for a great single.....ICOY is great, and "Till the Last Shot's Fired" is a simply amazing #1 song, but i'm not sure if they will ever get released to country radio : (

This is quite possibly the best CD he's released since his exceptional debut CD 12-13 years ago.

i noticed that "Till The Last Shot's Fired" debuted at #50 on Billboard this week -- are these just album spins, or is this his new single?

I'm ready for a new single. While I initially really liked Marry for Money, the novelty wore off pretty quickly. I'm tired of it now. I'm still really hoping for I Can't Outrun you to be a single at some point.

I hope this song starts a new trend in country music - 90's country is BACK!
I would really listen to country radio again if that were the case. *sigh*

I like "I Can't Outrun You" also, but I think "Happy To Be Here" would probably do well as a summer single...
