Wale Preps Debut, Records with Lady GaGa 2009 is looking bright for newcomer Wale. The Washington, D.C. native has already recorded several songs with production duo Cool & Dre and recently hooked up with one unlikely artist for his debut album. Last weekend, the “rapper with a conscience” hit a New York studio with pop star Lady GaGa for an unspecified collaboration. The “Nike Boots” MC and “Just Dance” songstress are labelmates at Interscope Records. While details of their recording were not available, the 24-year-old did tell Rap-Up.com, “I just try to have a lot of subject and a lot of content in the music. I feel like one of the most important things is to have content and to truly be saying something.” Wale was named one of Rap-Up’s five artists to watch in 2009. Pick up the Winter 08/09 issue to read his Class of 2009 profile. Source: www.rap-up.com/2008/12/31/wale-preps-debut-records-with-lady-gaga/#more-10150

The Mixtape About Nothing was fantastic and he's great on Daniel Merriweather's new single "Change". This should be good.

Yeah, this is definitely one to look forward to. I don't know why he would need to collaborate with "Lady" GaGa, but whatever. Maybe she'll use the collabo check for a rhinoplasty.

There doesn't appear to be a Daniel Merriweather thread and I'm too lazy to start one, so...
"Change" is out now!

I love the mixtape and the Merriweather track, but this new single is shit. Such a mess.

Pitchfork gives the new single a 5/10. Wale "Chillin'" [ft. Lady Gaga] [Interscope] 5
With Gaga doing her best Maya and Wale saying things like, "I'm the same way-- M.I.A./ Me, Cool and Dre get high like planes," you've got to wonder: Why not get the real Ms. Arulpragasam on the hook? After all, a long-anticipated first official single from the mixtape fave featuring M.I.A. would get every single rap, pop, and (ahem) indie rock [ft. hip-hop] blog atwitter! How dare those folks at Interscope deprive us nerds of a collaboration that will skip over to the Next Page before 4 p.m.?! Maybe because Wale knows he has the nerds; the nerds will ride. I mean, who else are we going to seriously back rap-wise in 2009, Charles Hamilton? Please.
Wale says his name nine times on "Chillin'". It's called branding. "My name Wale and I came to get it." Hi, my name is! etc. If you already know his name maybe this song isn't for you. But there's enough Mixtape About Nothing to satiate the non-masses, though references to McLovin will spark more than Mills Lane. It's way more respectable than, say, "Lollipop" though it's no "Lollipop". He walks that path between blog heavy and normal-dude-who-can't-check-Nah-Right-12-times-a-day well. Only thing that really rubs me is that Jock Jams sample. Unnecessary. But, hey (hey hey), people still go to basketball games. That's a communal experience-- more so than rocking the Skullcandy in front of the PowerBook. That's what I call crossover.

Wale, with special guest Lady GaGa, will be in town Monday to shoot a music video for “Chillin’ ” at an oh-so-secret venue. They need a “diverse group of female and male models” over 18 years old to provide the background eye candy. Interested in the all-day, non-paying Ga-Ga gig? E-mail models@6one7productions.com with all your deets plus three photos. That if there’s any billing and cooing between alleged Hollywood honeys Eliza Dushku and Rick Fox during their visit to Uganda this week, it will be well documented. Alicia Winn, exec director of the Boston Initiative to Advance Human Rights, has enlisted well-known documentary filmmaker Libby Spears to chronicle their visit and the human rights violations perpetrated on women and children by dissident military factions. Roll ’em. And that Brian White, the actor son of Celtics [team stats] legend Jo Jo White, has just signed onto “Hickory Nation,” a drama about the aftermath of a hit-and-run accident in a small Maine coastal town. Kris Kristofferson and Jesse James also star in the flick which will begin shooting in Boston in early 2010. news.bostonherald.com/track/inside_track/view/2009_05_01_We_Hear:_Lady_GaGa__Eliza_Dushku__Rick_Fox___more___/srvc=home&position=also

This album has exceeded my expectations, it's really really good and solid! :)
I like all the songs but I'm loving these ones right now: "Pretty Girl" hot anthem! It's so catchy! "Mama Told Me" excellent song "Let It Loose" I don't think it's one the best songs but it's SO hot "Shades" "Diary" beautiful song, the last few notes...OMG "World Tour"
