Not a bad effort from Collin. I doubt it's the song to get him back on the charts, but it's still an enjoyable listen. The hook is a tad forced, but it still works ok (and it stands out, which is half the battle). I think this is stronger than any of the singles from his 20 Years and Change album.

wow collin raye....where has he been all these years? he had sooo many classic ballads in the 90's...i was a huge fan of "i think about you", "little rock", and most of his other songs. Collin's "Direct Hits" CD was one of the first albums i ever bought! : )

I'll never understand why "Start Over Georgia" from 1999 totally flopped, but even after that he managed a final Top 3 in "Couldn't Last a Moment". Then... a few mid-forties peaks and he was gone. He's still hopping from indie label to indie label. I heard he had a fallout with some PDs, does anyone know anything about this?

That's the way it goes for most singers. Ten years is not a bad run. There's only so much room on radio playlists and as long as you have new artists breaking onto the scene, they will take a spot from somebody else.
It's been happening for as long as country music has been around. It's kinda like saying that Rascal Flatts took Collin Raye's place. Collin Raye took Willie Nelson's place. Willie Nelson took Webb Pierce's place. Webb Pierce took Hank Williams' place. Hank Williams took Roy Acuff's place. Roy Acuff took Jimmie Rodgers' place. Jimmie Rodgers probably even took somebody's place (Stephen Foster maybe?). Although that was back before music was recorded. I guess Stephen Foster would have replaced Francis Scott Key.......You get the picture.
And each generation's fans complain when their favorites don't get played anymore.
Getting back to Collin Raye. I don't care for the song, but I do like the title.

^ yeah you're right...i think i was in preschool when Collin Raye first came onto the scene...hahaha
The Strait man (George) is the one exception to the rule, but that just doesn't happen often. Someone like Brad Paisley might eventually take his place though, who knows...

I think Collin's still got the pipes, but he needs to make a decent song choice if he ever hopes to get back on the radio. This will not be played by today's country radio.

I dont know If I agree he still has the pipes or not. Although I loved a good portion of his stuff (mostly early album tracks). I found his vocals on this almost painful to listen to. Great title though....
