This is the next single for Joey + Rory. It is now at radio, and it's going for immediate airplay.
This is an interesting choice to me. I never thought they would release a cover when (I believe) the rest of the songs on their album are originals. I think this could go one of two ways - it could do really well because it's an original take on a song everyone knows, or it could fail because people don't want to hear a classic song changed up.

I am totally shocked at this single choice. Still, I like their rendition of the song. But it's...just...so...sad. I'd rather of had "To Say Goodbye" for the sad single from the album or maybe "Sweet Emmylou" as the ballad released.

This is quite an interesting release. They no doubt put a very, very different take on this classic song, but I wonder how this will be received. As mentioned before, this is quite a somber take on the song (to the point that I think the imagery gets lost a bit), but I think they do the song justice. I still, however, would've rather seen something else released. The Life Of A Song is fantastic, but probably not radio-friendly enough. Loved The Hell would probably have been my choice. It's a sweet sentiment and I think it would radio-friendly to get these guys a real hit. Oh and I forgot about To Say Goodbye. That song is one beautiful, moving song. A tad slow for radio, but it's beautifully written and performed and I would love to see it released.

The timing of this single doesn't seem very tasteful to me...
But whatever, perhaps I'm reading too much into it.

Cheater, Cheater deserved better than that. I don't think Joey + Rory is enough of an established duo to pull off a cover of such a well known song.

The fact that Billy Powell just died barely two weeks ago. I mean, maybe releasing it is their way of a tribute, but it was already on the album and it just seems like they're trying to cash in. Maybe I'm wrong though, it's probably a label decision if nothing else.

I can't see this doing anything. I'm surprised they would release this as a single. As far as country covers of "Free Bird" go, I much prefer Wynonna's to this. She at least sounds like she's awake while she's singing.
