Gyusz, for your consideration, I am the #2 supporter of this song/thread ... of course you are unreacha inconsolable @ #1! Thread Posters Total Posts: 359 1. Gyusz! 128 2. Thanks for your support Theo...Well i was trying to squeeze some life into this thread, but unfortunately just a few fans rushed to jump on board. The song is over now and that saddens me... I'm sure the album will be their best to date but i'm afraid it'll have the same faith as the single. For the record "Never Gone" was inside the Top 10 on Amazon two weeks before its release. So i think that not only the radio stopped supporting them. Their fan base, still active two years ago grew away from them...I wonder were are those 13 million people who brought "Millennium"?

I'm still in denial that this flopped...esp. before the CD even came out! The last song I felt this stongly about (which flopped much worse) was "Signal Fire" by Snow Patrol
Weird thing is both have two things in common... (1)title that is too "intellectual" for the average listener, and (2)brilliant verses IMO but mediocre choruses

Funny thing is that the B-side track on the German Edition of the single, called "Close My Eyes" has a monumental chorus, and if you ask me it's one of the best BSB songs ever!!! And as far as i can tell by listening 30 second clips of the album, every other track on it would've been a better choice for the first single...

That's amazing promo for Backstreet Boys. I would die to have that kind of promo for Britney right now.

This is kind of the standard promo-tour for everyone these days, unless you go to Oprah it won't make a huge difference... where'd you find those promo dates? www.thebackstreetboys.com and www.backstreetboys.com

Well, they did a extensive radio tour that obviously didn't helped...I think the label it's not 100% behind them...The song got of to a more than promising start on radio and they could've maximize the opportunity by advertising the song on TV and iTunes a little more... Beside all its "mistakes" this song deserved better...

Well, the song it's not quite the smash i hoped for...but i wouldn't say that "flopped big time"! Its peak at #33 on today's pop radio it's quite an achievement and for a late 90's "boy band"! I still have high hopes for at least the second single...The album haven't leaked yet, thank God, but from the 30 second clips i heard so far the other songs on it are way better than "Incomplete"!

They need to change that pic on their site, or replace Nick's picture because he looks out of place. He reminds me of Freddy Kreuger actually.

I don't give a sh*t how Nick or any of 'em looks!
My point was, that after almost two months their official site puts up the info about the availability of "Inconsolable" on iTunes!!!

Backstreet Boys: 'Unbreakable' Oct. 25, 2007 01:01 PM * * * 1/2 The boy band that just keeps on going loses one member (new father Kevin Richardson), but the new quartet lineup works fine, given that the group's famed harmonies are used more sparingly on its first album in three years. The sound is more mature and rock-flavored, with plenty of solo vocal takes. The opening track, Everything But Mine (which follows a short, harmony-laden intro), borrows a page from Duran Duran, with synthesizer and piercing guitar chords. Helpless When She Smiles starts with Sting-like bass before building into a rock power ballad. You Can Let Go uses strings and acoustic guitar as the foundation for a slow rock anthem. The harmonies drift in on the choruses of these songs. The debut single, Inconsolable, has a stronger dose of old-school Backstreet vocals, as does Unmistakable, another slow rocker. Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean would be wise to stay away from reggae in the future, with that sound anchoring the CD's most forgettable tracks, Any Other Way and One in a Million(?????). The album ends with Unsuspecting Sunday Afternoon, which hints at where Backstreet ultimately may be headed: a lush take on adult-contemporary music, bathed in piano, strings and harmonies. - Larry Rodgers www.azcentral.com/ent/music/articles/1025backstreet1025cd1.html

'Unbreakable' hit stores this week in Japan, and is already approaching Platinum! The first single off the album, 'Inconsolable' has jumped to #5 on the Japanese Radio Chart, and the video stays rated at #2. The song is also #3 on the ringtone chart! Thanks to all the fans in Japan for the love and support! www.thebackstreetboys.com/news/backstreets-back-in-japan

Billboard reviews "Unbreakable":
While the turn of phrase may be cliché, the overall sound of "Unbreakable" screams it loud and clear: Backstreet's back. Unlike 2005's uneven "comeback" album "Never Gone," its follow-up finds the Boys dipping into their old bag of classic pop songs. They are a boy band with spot-on harmonies: They sing huge, hooky choruses; belt out sappy bridges ("I'm a house of cards in a hurricane," the group wails on "Helpless When She Smiles"); and bop and groove to slickly produced dance numbers. Nearly everything here is top 40 or AC radio-ready, particularly the piano-driven first single, "Inconsolable," and the Beatles-y "Unsuspecting Sunday Afternoon." The boy band heyday might be long over and the group is now a man down (Kevin Richardson departed to pursue other interests), but Backstreet's ready to try and melt your heart once again. —Jill Menze

I don't understand how it flopped so hard, and now it only has 15 spins.
Here's to the next single doing better.

I wouldn't say "flopped hard", b/c it peaked at #33, so i call it a minor hit, but to answer your question, it flopped b/c US radio didn't gave this song a chance! Only 71/72 station supported the song which is not quite enough to make it big. And despite being #1 on Z100 Interactive 9@9 for several days, and despite early support Z100 dropped the song and that was the end of it... I listened to the leaked version of the album, and i bought it yesterday (10/29), and probably i can't be subjective, but i believe that this is their strongest release so far...Too bad that nobody gives a sh*t anymore, cuz it's good music going to waste... Unfortunately critics and radio hate them and their fans grew up and away, so i don't see any chance of this doing better than "Never Gone"...Though there's plenty of good song on the album without radio support a potential second or third single has no chance what so ever... Anyway if you liked what you heard so far of "Unbreakable" go out and PICK UP YOUR ORIGINAL COPY!!!
