Because it is a bit irrelevant. It's a demo, it wasn't released. Had it been a demo made by someone who wasn't famous there wouldn't be all of these comparisons. exactly. but the demo was by someone famous who is in the charts right now. thats what makes it relevant. No, not really. It might make it more interesting to discuss but not any less irrelevant.

Katy did this a lot better IMO. THAT is why this is a mistake. Katy Perry can't really sing. The idea that anyone would ever think Katy did something better says that the songs aren't good for Kelly because they aren't showing her vocals.

It might make it more interesting to discuss but not any less irrelevant. if its interesting, its relevant. i dont know why you are so adamant about this. it is relevant. people heard the demo first. it was by someone famous. this is basically the same thing sung by someone else. obviously they are going to be compared and why not. how you are arguing that the demo of a song-the very basis of a song- is not relevant is beyond me and beyond stubborn, but thats on you so live that way ;) im done talking about it

^MLWSWY has been confirmed for Idol. Pointless. :( It doesn't need any promotion and IDNHU could promote the album more. I don't like MLWSWY live either.

not really beyond big fans... and people are comparing it to that demo because it is the demo. you make it out to be irrelevant Because it is a bit irrelevant. It's a demo, it wasn't released. Had it been a demo made by someone who wasn't famous there wouldn't be all of these comparisons. People compare Joanna's OFU with Britney's, I think that's sort of the same thing as this. It's the same song, and I just think Katy does it better, because it's something that Katy Perry would sing. I haven't heard most of Kelly's CD yet because I'm waiting to buy it, and albeit being good songs, I just feel like they aren't her, and I honestly think My December, one of my all-time favorite albums, will wind up being 10000% more Kelly Clarkson.

People compare Joanna's OFU with Britney's, I think that's sort of the same thing as this. But it's not. Joanna's version of Out From Under is the original. It was officially released (on the Bratz movie soundtrack) which therefor makes Britney's version a cover. With I Do Not Hook Up, Katy never released the song, it was only a demo. On a side note I really take issue when people say she's "not being her true self." or that "this material isn't her." She hand chose everything on All I Ever Wanted. I have heard her countless times in interviews say that I Do Not Hook Up was a song that she could completely relate to and she could have written herself. But I guess we as fans would know who she is better than she does, right? As far as the whole "My December is the real Kelly Clarkson" argument, it's completely ridiculous. People change, their emotions change and Kelly has said before that she has probably the most diverse taste in music that you'll ever see, why wouldn't she want to reflect that in her work? My December is the real Kelly and so is all of her other albums because she brought elements of her life and music that she loves into each of them. It would be pretty boring if she followed the same sound throughout her entire career. Who wants 4 My Decembers or 4 Thankfuls or 4 Breakaways?

I know. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, of course, but what makes me laugh is the absolute stone-cold certitude with which so many of the "this is a good/bad single choice" opinions are stated. The funniest part is they are fans of artists who can't and never sing live. It reminds me of the movie "Saw".... If some of these chicks had to sing live to survive it be a short film. What on earth does live singing have to do with this thread and whether or not 'IDNHU' is a good single choice? Comments like that are just going to stir up trouble, especially since you were clearly trying to insult a particular artist.

People come here complaining that she a rip-off of other artist, that her songs are weak, but it's coming from people who cream themselves over songs that are completely auto-tuned to death. How can anyone take them seriously? It's like a blind person at a fashion show.

I Do Not Hook Up is a great pop song and All I Ever Wanted is probably going to be the pop album of 2009. Kelly's not some fabricated computerized "singer" she has her voice to carry her through songs that even if they arent great she sings them amazing. Lets stop with all these comparisons. Because Kelly has one of the best pop voices out there right now. Better than BritBrit or Katy.

as someone said earlier The song wouldn't fit Kay because I don't hook up and i kissed a girl and like would or should not be on the same cd. So she recorded the demo and didnt like it. Now the song goes to someone fitting for the song

it's coming from people who cream themselves over songs that are completely auto-tuned to death. How can anyone take them seriously? I don't think that it is relevant. People are not comparing Kelly and Katy's ability to sing or perform, they are comparing their delivery of this song. In other words... Kelly's not some fabricated computerized "singer" she has her voice to carry her through songs that even if they arent great she sings them amazing. ... which is commendable and admirable, yes. However, the final song can (I'm not saying this particular song does, just that a Kelly song technically can) fall short compared to a Britney song, even if she didn't write it, even if her voice is auto-tuned. That doesn't make the opinions of those who think that way worthless.

Not my point. The song is rather obnoxious and in your face in a Katy Perry sort of way. Two things I don't associate myself with Kelly. And I can't believe people are claiming me to be something of a "h@ter" when Kelly is one of my favorite artists of all-time.

I definitely prefer Kelly's version, but a small part of me wishes they didn't change the lyrics. Same here lol. I wanted the "keep your thing in your pants" line in there, but I don't think it would've sounded "right" coming from Kelly. Still LOVE this song, and Kelly's version BY FAR. The more I listen to this, the more I love it.

I like the original lyrics too. But than its too Katy. It still sounds good with how she changed it.
I hope she comes back in May to perform I Do Not Hook Up on Idol so by than it would have taken off a little bit.
