Lyrics are fairly pedestrian and it lacks a big hook, but the production is much improved from his last cd and his voice sounds good. Still, it's a well-executed feel good song that I think will do pretty well for Joe. I still think that his voice is better suited on neo-traditionalist material, but at least this song features the personality of his voice without overly intrusive production.

This song may be 'pedestrian' but it also still sounds remarkably 'country' compared to other stuff on radio. It also fits Joe Nichols given his personal demons with addiction.

It's subtle, but yeah I hear personality in his voice.

If you can hear pitch correction in everything, you must have VERY good hearing. Huh? What did you say? Seriously, though, I don't hear pitch correction in everything, just a few artists. I can hear odd little hiccups, wavers, and other odd vocal tricks (an abrupt change in nasality halfway through a note) that sound rather unnatural at times. They may not always be pitch correction, though.

My job is to listen to tons and tons of music and I RARELY notice the digital editing, unless it's an obvious one like "Stars on The Water" from George Strait.

Maybe I'm overanalyzing a bit, but I can't really find another possible explanation for all the other unnatural sounds I hear coming from some singers.

I like this. It has a nice melody and Joe sings it well enough.

I hope Joe cracks top 40 with this song. It's not bad. My job is to listen to tons and tons of music and I RARELY notice the digital editing, unless it's an obvious one like "Stars on The Water" from George Strait. Just went back and listened to that song. Was it done purposely for effect, or did someone just butcher the correction?

Just went back and listened to that song. Was it done purposely for effect, or did someone just butcher the correction? That one was done on purpose, I'm sure. Really odd ones like the way George squawks out "tumbleweeds roll" in "It Just Comes Natural" are probably someone butchering the correction. As for this song, not bad. The lyrics are slightly predictable, but Joe's voice sounds a little stronger and I think that he makes the song rather engaging.

I still don't hear 'obvious' pitch correction and think that overdubbed harmony vocals could possibly be where 'correction' is heard. I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, I just don't see it.

Like I said, it just makes sense to me. If an artist sounds like they have a really bad sore throat EVERY time they sing live (as I think George Strait does; every time I've heard him live he sounds very gravelly and higher-pitched, and seems to fluff a lot of notes), then it just gets me suspicious. Maybe I just have really good speakers. I don't know what it is.

Have the co-writers of this wonderful song (Phil Vassar & Craig Wiseman) previously written any tunes together?
Next to George Strait & Alan Jackson (and a very honorable mention to Gary Allan), he gets my vote as the format's best traditional male country vocalist, and it's really wonderful having him back on the radio again.

I was going by what Bob Kingsley stated on his 'CT40' countdown show this past weekend immediately after playing the song.

I think Bob and his staff must have made a mistake then, because iTunes also lists Bill Luther as the songwriter.
To answer your original question though, yes, Phil and Craig have written a number of hits together (American Child, Just Another Day In Paradise, In a Real Love, Good Ole Days as well as his current single Bobbi With An I).
