Why does the Spin matter so much here? Who cares how many times a Dj spins a record, shouldn't the # of audience be more important?
For all I know a Dj can favor a song and spin the hell out of it. It's the audience # that really counts, IMO.

^I think both are important. It depends on what you're looking at. I like to see how many spins a song can get because its almost revolting to see something in such high rotation. lol

The #1 song could have 10200 spins and 64M audience, and the #2 song could have 9800 spins and a 68M audience, but the #1 song is still #1 because it has more spins.

Exactly, here we follow the Mediabase chart after all, which is based on # of spins!! Another point is that the # of spins is the most objective indicator of the 2. There is no doubt about the # of spins a song received in a radio. However, the AI is an estimate of the # of people that have heard the song, based not only on assumptions on the audience of a station at certain times of the day, and on the fact that these supposed listeners are actually listening to the song or have the radio in mute ;)

Audience is more accurate because it matches the # of listeners that are currently listening to a radio station at any given time period during the day with the number of spins per station. So Audience takes into account both spin count and the # of listeners listening to a station.

The last I can find is 9257 with a +800 bullet declining fast, so I'm guessing it peaked somewhere around 9400-9600. As for 'Buttons', I believe it peaked at around 9600-9800. It's something to ask UTR.

This is exactly what my argument is all about. IMO, a song should go to #1 because the audience put it there not because a selective group of people(Dj's) decided to spin one song this many times, and another this many times.

The way I formatted this list, it's peak would be 11K+, but it wouldn't be "official". My list doesn't consist of official Sunday updates. It's full of midweek updates.

Okay. Considering that, GaGa would be the top of the list regarding the current "era" and radio climate, with a spin peak of 11008. :)

I was wondering if you could please include Boom Boom Pow in the list? It's already +10000 spins and is still bulleted, so it has a chance to get around 10800 or something like that.
Thanks in advance!

Just updated the list with 'I Gotta Feeling', 'You Belong With Me', 'Down', 'Party In The U.S.A.', and 'Paparazzi', as well as formatted the list into a chart, that way it's organized and easier to read through. :)

It's the audience # that really counts, IMO. 1) The DJ really has no say in what's played. The PDs and MDs do. DJs are just there to make sure everything runs smoothly. 2) The audience numbers can be way off. We simply don't know the exact numbers for those, because they're all estimated, there's really no way to measure it. However, we do know exact numbers for spins. in terms of average spins per station i would say i gotta feeling beat poker face. I would agree with you. "I Gotta Feeling" had five less stations, so it's numbers were way more impressive. If you look at the ratios, then yes, "I Gotta Feeling" does hold the record. "Paparazzi" has back the same amount "Poker Face" had, so now "Paparazzi" has to get at least 11,300 to beat "I Gotta Feeling."

Updated Jason's peak. Just a few spins shy of outperforming 'Paparazzi'! Could '3' be the first song in a long while that goes #1 without hitting 10K spins? is it possible to know the number of the panel?the total stations.that would be better for us to really know who has the bigger song. I'm not sure. Now that we have Mediabase, is this possible?

MLWSWY could've been #1 for 2 weeks instead of Don't Trust Me. Humph.
