That list is accurate. I have access to Mediabase, too. It's there. HOWEVER, there is a small note...
NOTE: The list started on July 30, 2001. This means that for songs that peaked prior to this date, we don't know their exact spin count. Which is why it says Lady Marmalade peaked with over 4,000, when it actually peaked over 12,000 like Bad Romance and TiK ToK. ;) Otherwise, for songs that peaked after that date, it's a very good list!
Nice to know that only 31 songs have gotten on the +10,000 spin list. (Rude Boy just got 10,000 today. ;))

Why are you all ignoring Lady Marmalade? All For You? Only tracks from 04/05 are included.

I'm gonna try updating this tomorrow. Why are you all ignoring Lady Marmalade? All For You? Only tracks from 04/05 are included. This question is already answered numerous times throughout the thread. :)

If I remember correctly, "Fantasy," a #1 song in 1995, got something like 4,000 spins. CHR definitely wasn't at its peak.

(Finally) updated the numbers. Katy's here to break records. Was No Air the biggest #2 on CHR with 9714 spins? Not anymore. If I remember correctly, "Fantasy," a #1 song in 1995, got something like 4,000 spins. CHR definitely wasn't at its peak. Definitely not sure, but thanks for the info if it is true!

You also have to keep in mind that top 40 radio lost dozens of reporters between 1989 & 1998, due to the explosion of rap music at top 40 radio which drove millions of baby-boomers & soccer moms from the format, with country, AC, & Adult Top 40 (or Hot AC, if you prefer) formatted stations benefitting the most.
All 235 of R&Rs reporters added 'We Are The World' on the day it was released (1-28-85), so it certainly had far more than 10,000 spins when you consider how many different formats jumped all over it at once.

Nobody is denying that. ??? These are spinpeaks for the Top 40 chart only.

I think we should make new divisions:
2000-2005 2006-2009 2010-present
Almost the entire Top 10 is now songs released in 2010. It just makes more sense.

Congratulations Katy on shattering Ke$ha's spin record with 12,620 spins!!! I think we should make new divisions: 2000-2005 2006-2009 2010-present Almost the entire Top 10 is now songs released in 2010. It just makes more sense. It does make more sense. I've been trying to figure out how I could divide it. I was actually just going to be lazy and combine them all. I'm assuming you guys wouldn't like that. It is better to go by.

It would be nice if Mediabase kept the information for avg. rotation (I don't remember seeing it when we had that password access last year; maybe it's hidden somewhere else). On top of the larger panel, today's songs are more overplayed. "California Gurls" is already averaging 88.3 spins/station, while "So What" peaked at 81.8 (if we consider 10,875 spins / 133 stations).

i think the next big contender to threaten Katy's position is gonna be Lady Gaga's lead single off her new album, but that won't be till next year.

The spinpeak record is so irrelevant nowdays since it's being broken in every few months.

Updated the list.
How should I organize this? The panel size has obviously shifted a lot since 2005. Do I do it by year? Do I do them all in one list without separating anything? Do I do both? Suggestions are good!

If you had panel size figures all the way back to 2005, then just have a panel size column. Since you (assumably) don't, I'd say just leave them all in one big list, because it's not like the panel size increases by 5 every January 1st or something, it's random and all. You could always create an additional column for comments, such as panel size, or anything else important. up2u.

I would divide the spinpeaks by the total number of stations on the panel (at that time) instead of the number of stations actually playing the song - that way you actually get the average amount of airplay on each station Just an idea... (thanks for the list though!! )

If somebody would supply me with that, then I would gladly do it, but I don't think there's a real way to obtain that. For every song.

I would divide the spinpeaks by the total number of stations on the panel (at that time) instead of the number of stations actually playing the song - that way you actually get the average amount of airplay on each station Just an idea... (thanks for the list though!! ) I don't know if that is the appropriate way to do things. Why would you factor in stations that had 0 contribution to the song's performance? That would be like finding the average test score in a class by averaging over all the students in the eighth grade versus only the students who took the test.

"Song 1" is an alt-rock song. "Song 2" is a slutty, dance-beat-infested, female pop track. One very Hot AC leaning station that shouldn't be on the pop panel but still is puts "Song 1" into power, but every other station on the panel refuses to touch it at all. Every station on the panel puts "Song 2" into power. Let's say power means 90 spins per week, and the panel has 150 stations. "Song 2" has 13,500 spins in total. "Song 1" has 90. If we divide by stations playing, both songs will get to 90. Is that fair? If we divide by the entire panel, "Song 1" will have 0.6, and "Song 2" will have 90. Fairer?

Naw, it would be like factoring in the kids that scored a "0" on the test, instead of just the kids that didn't get a "0" In other words, using the current method, you'd be finding the class test average by just averaging the scores of the kids that DIDN'T get a 0 on the test
