It's having healthy gains again! Is this peak-wise his 3rd most-successful single?

I hope it isn't anything really, really serious either. There's really no harder working artist out there than Rob. To keep a solo career going and a career with a band can not be easy.
Someone asked if this was he third highest peaking song on Pop. As much as I'm on here, I really don't know. I don't write that type of thing down. Obviously, Lonely No More peaked higher than this but I'm not sure about TIHAHB. Where did that song peak on Pop?

According to this link, this is actually Rob's second-best performing solo single on CHR: www2.uta.edu/hunt/charts/rob_thomas.htm'Her Diamonds' reached top 30 while everything after 'Lonely No More' didn't. EDIT: Oops, forgot 'Smooth' with Santana. With that in mind, yes this is Rob's third most successful song on CHR. ;)

I found this today in another thread. Anyone else think that Pop is dropping the ball on this song. I was shocked to see this so high with Pop listeners.

Wow at this song. I never imagined this hitting even just the top 50. Good for him.

I'm so glad that this song has recovered and now has a healthy bullet. It must have gotten good callout scores.

I think the fact that it was able to reach #23 on the Hot100 with only about 8 million in AI on Pop told the pop PTBs that people are liking the song.

Nice little minor hit for Rob. I think the solo thing is a mistake, though, overall.

Nice little minor hit for Rob. I think the solo thing is a mistake, though, overall. How is it a mistake? It's like double the music. He's experimenting with his music in his own ways, and that's incredibly respectful. Especially being able to manage both Matchbox Twenty and his own stuff at the same time.

I agree that Rob (and any artist for that matter) should do what they want in regards to their music. From what I've read, the guys in MB20 wanted to take a break and do their own thing for a while. So Rob took advantage of that "break" to do his songs HIS way. Not having to negotiate with other bandmates for how a song will sound. Just do it the way he hears it. For an artist as prolific as Rob, I could see him going crazy if he didn't have an outlet for all the songs he writes. And it seems there's a new dynamic in MB20 where they all want a say in writing the songs now as opposed to Rob doing most of the writing. And I've heard Rob say that some songs the guys in MB20 passed on so Rob had to do them solo or give them to another artist or just let them remain in his head. I respect that he can juggle both MB20 and his solo work and do a good job at both. More power to him.

I don't know WHAT I would do without this solo stuff...I LOVE it! Me too. As you can tell between the songs on Cradlesong verus the new songs on EOM, Rob's solo is where you have to go to find his personal songs. I actually don't like the new writing dynamic of MB20 but I'll keep an open mind on their next album. I can't see them topping Cradlesong in my mind though.

Today, Rob manages to pass LMFAO. This is good because last week, the LMFAO passed him. Clearly, this song is getting great callouts on the stations that are playing it. It's also selling the album. If only some other stations would jump on this...
Anyway, I bought the album digitally this week and I LOVE IT! All of Rob's songs are the definition of growers. Most songs are great the first few times you hear it, but then sound less appealing after a few listens. Rob's songs were good on first listen, but after multiple plays I'm hooked on almost all of them!

It isn't the releasing songs part, it is the promo and watering down of the sound that bothers me. He leans a little more HOTAC and I think it unfairly pigeonholes the Matchbox Twenty material there because he is the lead singer of Matchbox Twenty.

This song is amazing! It's my favorite Rob Thomas' song ever. :) I also consider Cradlesong to be his best album to date, counting with Matchbox Twenty's.
Am I the only one that prefers Rob Thomas' solo work to Matchbox Twenty? ???

Am I the only one that prefers Rob Thomas' solo work to Matchbox Twenty? ??? I prefer his solo work over his work with Matchbox Twenty. I thought the new songs on "Exile on Mainstream" were forgettable songs that lacked a clear message and I attribute that to the fact that there was a group songwriting effort that failed in my opinion.

He leans a little more HOTAC and I think it unfairly pigeonholes the Matchbox Twenty material there because he is the lead singer of Matchbox Twenty. I actually think that is probably an opinion shared by many Matchbox Twenty fans...fans that truly like a little more edge. However, I think YOSLY was probably an anamoly and everything else has really been more about what type of band they are. They are a pop band. Have you listened to any of the solo stuff by the other guys in the band? It's not my thing but Paul's stuff is very pop and Kyle is actually writing country songs in Nashville (rumor mill is that he will have a song on Tim McGraw's new album OR Tim has at least required the rights to one of Kyle's songs that he has co-written with another country artist). My point - these guys are all all over the place so I think it's unfair to say that Rob's solo stuff waters down MB20's image. After hearing Cradlesong, I have no doubt that Rob is a pop guy much more than a true rock artist. He likes it all but he is best writing those awesome melodies that the critics like to refer to as middle-of-the road.

Total plays for Her Diamonds. Looks like Rob will have sold around 160,000 CDs after 2 weeks. Really not too bad at all. Video is only getting played on VH1. In contrast, I think Daughtry is getting played on Fuse, MTV, and MTVhits. More exposure - more album sales - pretty simple. www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/Reports/Reg/EMD.asp?SOngID=1653958&NumDays=7I predict Her Diamonds will drop to around 34 this week from 23. Downloads are down after the first week of the albums release but his AI are gaining very nicely on 4 formats - Pop, Hot AC, AAA, and AC.
