Rob posted this on his website today. What do you think?? I vote for Meltdown.
hey guys. just wanted to say thanx for all the kindness you're sending tyler's way. he/we appreciate it. i go back to work next week. i'm off to canada to spread the cradlesong word. wanted to say that the video for meltdown was just a web viral we did and not REALLY the video, because it's not the next single. that said, i really want to hear from you guys what you think the next single should be. we were going to put out SOMEDAY, but i want your feed back, so it's either: SOMEDAY, REAL WORLD 09, GIVE ME THE MELTDOWN or MOCKINGBIRD. atlantic peeps and myself will be listening, so give me your feedback. also, for those who were wondering, my bass player, AL CARTY, WILL be coming back to join me, but i can't thank KONRAD ADDERLEY enough for filling in. he fit in great and is a stellar player! so, that's it. i'm off to australia for press next week, and doing REAL TIME on friday, on my way through, so watch me stick my foot in my mouth once again! cya. The "Real World" song is a cover from MB20, right? He should release that, and see how it does.

Save the mid-tempo song for the cold weather. Meltdown and Mockingbird are both guaranteed hits, imo.

But I was pleased to see it's just a great new track. I hope they go with MELTDOWN!

Rt Those are all really good choices except for "Someday". My favorite is probably "Real World '09", but the best single choices would be: 1. Give Me the Meltdown 2. Real World '09 3. Mockingbird

I think Someday is boring. I'd like Give Me the Meltdown, it's my favorite track from the album. Then after that, they should go with Mockingbird.

well I believe this is the catchy song on the cd and I don't believe that meltdown has the power to be a huge hit.
This is my only problem with Rob not on one song he can't just rock out it has to either be a mid tempo or a ballad. I thought his cd was lacking that raw rock power.
But I do like Meltdown but it will flop sadly. But I think Mockingbird or Snowblind might surprise people.

Meltdown wouldn't flop at all, if they want momentum, and with the way Rob is usually predictable on single choices, I'm going to guess that it will be Meltdown. I think Real World 09 is a critics choice and is really not single-worthy at all. The only time I was surprised by a single choice by Rob or Matchbox Twenty was probably when they put out Mad Season as the third single about....wow, like eight years ago now.

Yeah, I agree that Rob/Atlantic are fairly predictable about their single choices for him and MB20. "Mad Season" didn't really surprise me, but actually "These Hard Times" getting released really did.
Anyway, "Give Me The Meltdown" makes the most sense to release next I think, but "Someday" also wouldn't shock me (even though I don't want it right now). I'd wait a little bit though, to see if "Her Diamonds" recovers, before announcing a second single. Plus, "Her Diamonds" is close to hitting #1 at HotAC (his core format), and the announcement of a second single may stop it from hitting #1 there.

My CHR station is finally starting to play this. I wouldn't be shocked if it hangs around the 26-32 range for the remainder of the Summer. I really think Meltdown will be a big hit.

There's a three page article on Rob in the current issue of Rolling Stone. I thought I knew that Rob had had a tough life but this article sheds even more light on his childhood. Expect for the first MB20 album I think Rob's music is uplifting even when the lyrics aren't. When you know his background and then really think about his music, it's inspiring.
