Does anyone know the physical single's sales? I looked all over Best Buy for it today, couldn't find any spot for it or anything, just 6 "Something To Be" albums on sale.

If you pre-order the album you can get the physical single for free. It has the album version of "Her Diamonds" and a B-side called "Overrun." Plus a free ringtone and wallpaper. www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcmcat181500050019&type=category

^ Thanks :)
But EW those covers are UGLY! I already bought "Her Diamonds" on iTunes, and tho I normally prefer to buy full albums in cd version...I might just have to buy that on iTunes.

Who are we kidding? Rob Thomas has not had a Top 20 Hit since Lonely No More and that song was made for top 40 radio. Ever since then it's like he's not even trying to get top 40 and just settling for AC.

Ever since then it's like he's not even trying to get top 40 and just settling for AC. Thing is he pushed How Far We've Come (by Matchbox 20) on CHR in fall of '07 and it peaked in the lower teens (#14 with a 22-week run)... IMO biggest problem is Clear Channel won't touch his solo stuff, esp. if there's a Hot AC in the market already playin it - hopin this gets enough downloads for CC to change their minds, esp. in medium sized markets where there's no HAC I can see why he'd concentrate on Hot AC though, cause he basically controls the format over there, and he's makin an insane amount of $$$ off Hot AC and AC recurrent play (thread on HAC board actually breaks down the A. I.'s - it's kinda amazing IMO)

I think this will pick up. It's gonna be slow to climb the charts.

At this stage in his career, if he gets played on the format, great. If not, I'll think he'll manage. It's us fans that would like to see him have some success. And help him sell some albums.

^Yeah still think he makes so much money off HAC/AC royalties that label prob. prioritizes those formats...with the amount of money he's makin off recurrent play there, seems like targeting CHR would almost be a mistake (if it sacrificed his standing on HAC and AC)
If this can hit #1 on Hot AC though, pathway is kinda set for Top 20 CHR (since someone said no one's ever hit #1 HAC and not hit Top 20 CHR)

Yeah, the way pop music is these days it has left artists like Rob Thomas in the dust. Rob's a Hot AC artist, pure and simple. If pop likes something and picks it up, great. But Rob doesn't fit in the pop model. And if he did, I probably wouldn't be a fan!

But Rob doesn't fit in the pop model. Only thing is people in markets with Cumulus CHRs love the song, and Rob fits the pop model perfectly in say Houston and Atlanta (and that's a lot of people)...almost seems like Clear Channel makes it a point not to even exposure their listeners to Rob's songs >:( And just not sure why Rob wouldn't fit the "pop model" but Matt Nathanson would...unless it just bothers CC PDs that Rob's been around for so long

This is still not one of my faves from him. It just doesn't scream smash the way his other singles did. I just kinda feel like there's something wrong with the structure of the song LOL. I still want this to be a hit though because Rob is one my most fave male artists out there.

This song will provide the much needed balance for pop radio's summer playlist.

Very likely that this might make the top 40 tomorrow. At least for a day before another song hops over it. ;)

Yeah, the way pop music is these days it has left artists like Rob Thomas in the dust. Rob's a Hot AC artist, pure and simple. If pop likes something and picks it up, great. But Rob doesn't fit in the pop model. And if he did, I probably wouldn't be a fan! i agree and rob thomas has had more success than any of these bubble gum artists will have and what will britney spears do when she's 40 and so on. rob thomas was just on the cover of billboard magazine and is hot ac's core artist. when his songs impact they never even go for adds, its an event. her diamonds took literally a few days to be on every hot ac station in the us lol. but hot ac is top 40 i listen to the pulse on sirius xm and i have listened to top 40 since i was a kid back when genesis, bryan adams, and michael jackson ruled the airways. there is no way matt nathanson, flo rida,or that stupid bitrthday sex song even deserve to be on a playlist with a man who is in a legends leaugue of greats like santana, bon jovi, stones, tom petty, billy joel, rod stewart, mellencamp, aerosmith, elton john and the eagles to name a few. He'll be in the hall of fame and has already contributed to 80 million records sold in 12 years. He's even on daughtrys new cd with a credit. His passion and vocals and soul and lyrics and gift of catchy relatable songs will live on. Top 40 is hot ac,everything good from chr is on hot ac same with alternative like saving abel and miley cirus the climb. chr has slowly become targeted to little kids only and sometimes if you take away bubblegum teen stars like hillary and american idols and these movie star/rappers you have just a few real pure pop and rock artists. it's sad when i feel a cute 13 year old girl with studio help could for example put out a song with a bangin beat repetitive lyrics about clubbin and shakin her booty and missin her boo and textin and call it "8th grade drama" featurinfg TI and justin timberlake would chart higher than a grammy winning classic from a band like nickelback or matchbox twenty lol. chr should be khr kid hit radio and hot ac is traitional top 40. you got your ac like john mayer and jason mraz colbie etc, your core rob thomas, kelly clarkson, nickelback, all american rejects, daughtry, you got your legends when they come back bryan adams, def leppard, bon jovi,u2 and u got country taylor swift, rascal flatts, you got rock like saving abel, buckcherry, theory of a deadman, and you got r and b like beyonce, justin timberlake and crossover hip hop black eyed peas and ti and miley cyrus and john mayer for good measure. thats pop. You also have breaking new artists like lady gaga, david cook, and katy perry and room for old favs to return green day, sheryl crow, goo goo dolls, and even poison could hit on hot ac after rock of love success. My rambling is between ac and hot ac and the chr that still love rob he does awesome and always will. If he was on american idol or the hills or in teen beat mags and radio disney and on notebooks and mtv trl and was made to be hipper now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see rob is mid 30s married for ten years and isn;t about to be glamourous and cool just to have 14 year old kids illegally download his new song on theyre ipods lol. .he is in a class with legends not flo rida and matt nathanson!

Todays adds: Where is Z100? Come on! Z100=Clear Channel=no Rob Thomas (probably) IMO he's gotta get all the markets without HACs and that should push him into the 20s (I hope...)

Pretty good post Marv. I agree with a lot of it, but come on, Matt Nathanson isn't THAT bad. Does he have the kind of talent to stick around for 12 years? No, but he writes a pretty catchy tune for the moment. There are far worst artists out there.
So that song that Daughtry and Rob wrote is on Daughtry's new CD?
That reminds me...this week's issue of EW covers summer releases. It mentions to look for a Rob Thomas song on the new Colbie Caillat album. :)

Wait why all the hate on Matt...he could be the next John Mayer (except he's already 36 I think) BTW Rob is Top 40 now...looks like it'll be an easy ride into the 30s in the next couple weeks
