So that song that Daughtry and Rob wrote is on Daughtry's new CD? I don't think so. The song they wrote was for Chris' first album ("You're In My Hands") but it didn't make the cut. Unless they wrote again which wouldn't be impossible since the two seems to be always in contact. Oooh, I wanna hear this! Any chance of it being a duet?

Well, Rob isn't only a good songwriter but a pretty good writer in general. He has a guest blog on the Huffington Post site today. I know many people don't like to hear an artist or celebrity give an opinion on anything but it doesn't bother me. It will create some fans and turn others off. It's a risk, but hey, if you have something to say and can say it well, why not. www.huffingtonpost.com/rob-thomas/the-big-gay-chip-on-my-sh_b_208183.html

Total digital downloads this week (first week of release). Not bad (and not great) for the AI impressions that the song has. Of course, Rob isn't a single artist so not unexpected. This song is good but doesn't have that immediate impact that Lonely No More and How Far We've Come had (really only two pop success stories for Rob/MB20 in the digital download age).
-- 33 THOMAS*ROB HER DIAMONDS 46025 999 0 46025
Total AI-
ROB THOMAS - Her Diamonds = 19.379 (+ 0.380)
And on streaming-
No. 24 - Rob Thomas - Her Diamonds
And Hot 100 airplay before recurrents -
No. 80 - Rob Thomas (+1.7 million)
Thanks to bks for the data over in the Billboard 100 post.
I wonder where the song will debut on the Hot100. I'll guess #55.

I do like Rob a lot. I don't generally let celebrities sway my opinion...they're just people too. I am on his side, but as far as the religious argument, no..it's a big shame that not only can gay people not get married in 2009, but also that Christian's as a whole are still all lumped together.

Wow. Much better than I had guessed. I really don't follow that chart much and don't know how it is computed but just on the surface it looks like downloads weigh more heavily than radioplay.

Pretty good post Marv. I agree with a lot of it, but come on, Matt Nathanson isn't THAT bad. Does he have the kind of talent to stick around for 12 years? No, but he writes a pretty catchy tune for the moment. There are far worst artists out there. So that song that Daughtry and Rob wrote is on Daughtry's new CD? That reminds me...this week's issue of EW covers summer releases. It mentions to look for a Rob Thomas song on the new Colbie Caillat album. :) yea matt nathanson is ok i like the comw on get higher song,i was just laughibg because my 15 year old cosib won't give rob a chance but matt is so less hip and she loves him because his song was on the hills and mtv lol

I like this song...until the "choir" comes in at the end. I hate when songs do that, it just seems so out of place.

Just don't sound pleasing to me. I'm not crazy about the choir either. It's a good song that could have been better with a different ending. Having said that I wonder if the ending will sound better in the context of the entire album. Read this short article on the album. www.outside-org.co.uk/index.php?/publicity/clients/entertainment/rob_thomasThese two paragraphs stood out to me. cradlesong’ is a rock record that pulses with excitement and energy in every song. Another prime example of Thomas’s gift of turning deeply personal experiences and observations into universal truths, ‘cradlesong’ is filled with the unmistakable melodies and distinctive vocals that can only be quintessential Rob Thomas. It hooks you in on the first listen and is already being hailed as the feel good album of this summer. Produced by Matt Sterletic ‘cradlesong’ also includes the highly infections tracks Real World ’09, Mockingbird, Someday and Hard On You.

Especially the "is already being hailed as the feel good album of this summer." Hailed by whom? There's been some press about it, but haven't seen anything that claims this. But the link has "publicity/clients" in it so I clicked around on that site and found that it's a publicist site. So this is something Rob's label probably paid for. But hope I agree with it! :) I'm curious about the quote at the top of the article: “Expertly crafted with depth and a lolloping of funk” – Q magazine Tried to find Q magazine online but couldn't find this review.

I wanted to congratulate Rob on another hit. It's great when good songs actually do well on the radio. It seems like a rare occurrence lately.

I think he'll manange to be Top 25 by the first week of July with his album out and everything, probably peaking somewhere in the 16-19 range in about 8 or 9 weeks, right in time for a Fall Power Ballad.

I saw that review on Rob's board and wondered about it. I don't think the article said it was a review. It was definitely a PR piece but still nice to read some information at least on the other songs. Do albums even get reviewed anymore? I wonder how many major newspaper even have an entertainment writer. I guess with the internet we all are reviewers.

Sunday morning. 41 38 ROB THOMAS Her Diamonds 1005 775 230 4.051 First time over 1000 spins and over 4 million AI. Akon will fall below Rob tomorrow but Jordan Sparks will pass Rob. So it looks like he may stay in the low 30s for sometime. Still hoping this may get up to 10-14 million AI. Ranking really doesn't matter. Object is to expose the song to people who then may go buy the album.

This song is very mediocre in my opinion. I can't wait for the album to drop because there will be better tracks from Rob.
