All the instrumentals sound really stripped down. Sounds like a 4-man band or something.. Collin's still got a usable voice, but the songs on here sound sorta thin. You've still got talent though, Collin!

Wow, where has he been all these years? It's hard to believe that it's been almost a decade since I saw him in concert. Collin's "Direct Hits" CD is still one of my favorite of all time...he had so many amazing songs on there. I'll have to take a closer listen to the new CD later tonight...thanks for posting this!

They were going for a 'rawer, rockier vibe on these songs and there are quite a few great songwriters included on the album including Neil Thrasher, Wendell Mobley, Aimee Mayo, Kim Williams, Tony Martin, and Collin himself.

Yes, that's the same "Get Up in Jesus' Name" that Lee Ann Womack recorded and Marty Raybon co-wrote. No, that's NOT the same "I Love You This Much" that Jimmy Wayne recorded.

"I Love You This Much" was on Billy Ray Cyrus' gospel album. there isn't "Get Up In Jesus' Name" on this album. Jerry Kilgore sang "Don't Tell Me You're Not In Love."

"Don't Tell Me You're Not In Love" is also on Strait's 2001 "Road Less Traveled" CD.

^Huh. Allmusic lists a "Get Up in Jesus' Name" on the album.

To me, the cd sounds terribly dated. It's not that the production sounds 'raw' but that it sounds bland and amateurish. I confess to not paying much attention to the lyrics because of the overall sound.

"If I Were You" still gives me chills. The 90's were the best...

yeah, i miss his classic hits like "I think about you" and "little rock"...i doubt this CD will get much airplay.
"i love you this much" isn't as good as Jimmy Wayne's tune, but it is still a very solid song.
