Yeah, wtf was an entire album of 16 ballads for? I mean, they did some great ballads back in their heyday...but those were catchy and good... The adult contemporary Celine Dionesque, almost country album last time must have been under some ancient management.

I think they missed an opportunity to get back on the radio with the singles they chose from unbreakable. They had some great uptempos in that album... JIVE screwed them over with that album.... EBM and AOW would have made Hot Singles IMO.
I am hoping for an uptempo single with a collab possibly.. ;)

It seems like they got the message though, after listening to some of this new stuff.

The adult contemporary Celine Dionesque, almost country album last time must have been under some ancient management. Yeah. The single choices were really odd. They really put a lot of effort into picking great songs (and they did). "Something That I Already Know" and "Unmistakable" would've done great on HAC, and "Panic" and "Everything But Mine" were pretty dancy jams. But jive picked possibly the most Celine-esque song on the album "Helpless When She Smiles." I loved the album as a whole, because it was like HAC pop rock with tight R&B harmonies, and that's a mixture I didn't even know was possible. "Never Gone" was a lot more ballady than Unbreakable, so I don't get the ballad complaint. They've always shined on ballads, and their biggest songs are ballads. But after the mess that was Unbreakable, they need to release the uptempo stuff to get decent airplay and interest.

their biggest songs are ballads. I don't think so. When I think of their biggest songs I think Everybody, Larger than Life, Quit Playing Games With My Heart, I Want It That Way (was a ballad, but not pop-rock ballad). I think a first single in the vein of Larger Than Life could do really well.

Wait a minute. This is a bit faux Backstreet. Too much autotune. They are good singers. They do not need all of that. And I honestly prefer the pop rock HAC material from their last album to this material. And nice hearing Howie sing a whole verse! Go Howie D!
Japan is their main market. They're huge over there. I don't know if they'll really love this over there, and honestly, that's what Jive should be focusing on, right now.

I think this is exactly the direction they need to take if they want a full-fledged pop comeback. Awesome song. Since it leaked, do we think it is the 1st single?

I'm honestly a little shocked to see that we have a full leaked song and this thread is dead. I hope this isn't indicative of their chances of mounting a comeback.

Yeah it is a bit weird, I think they can be "cool" again if both Pop/Rhythmic pick their singles up. They own the JoBros any day!

I know that these guys are not cool anymore. But hopefully, the public will give them a chance again when they release their new single to the radio.. BTW, Backstreet is working with the Swede crew again.. This time its Rami and Kristin Lundin, they are co-writing some songs... Hope we get some thing as catchy as everybody and Everyone, two of my favourite songs from them. Also another demo made for them has leaked. Again produced by Jim Jonsin www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoFUmBDJWFoIt s a summer Urban Jam..

^ Not a fan of that title. :(
It's like the same title as Unbreakable and Never Gone. They all mean the same thing. Sort of a us vs them theme. I understand why they would think that, but I'm just sort of over it. Your fans love you guys. Just let the h8trs hate.

Its not the most imaginative title... But its simple and to the point. They are making a point to the critics, record label and to a certain extent to their own fans who want them to be AC. Any way, titles do not matter in this industry anymore. Singles, on the other hand matter.
So Lets hope for the best first single..

Don't care for "Helpless" it's soulless, boring and hookless.

I don't like the album title. We should change the thread title though. I hope we get an official first single soon.

I actually agree. They need to stop taking themselves seriously. Pop is coming back. Not in the Boy Band kind of way but if they have a hot first Pop/RnB single, it could do well.

Lyrically, this album is going to be way out of their comfort zone, from some of the demos that I heard and am hearing about... Hope they can pull this off. The following is from one of their songs PDA. Intimate scenes. Fresh from my dreams of XXX movie scenes.. :o I could care less about being seen.. ;)

LOL. This thread Died. Let me try to do the CPR...
They have worked with redone on three tracks and one of them will be the single. Its going for release in July.
Rami and kristin have worked on about 5 songs.
They are scheduled to work with Jaylein who produced 'beautiful' for AKON and The Runners who are famous for their hot beats.
This is turning into a swede produced album suddenly.

I'll miss the ballads... I'm probably in the minority, but I love heartfelt ballads like what they did the last 3 albums. I guess they want to be more contemporary now, but I don't see the point, because I doubt radio will be willing to play their music in 2009. :(
