Love Coldplay but kinda doubt this can chart better than Lovers In Japan...esp. since they sound so similar IMO - just doesn't really seem like a CHR track I guess

I really don't think this album had any radio hits after Viva La Vida and Lost.

^Yeah still think they could've released a remix of Lost to CHR and prob. would've done even better than LIJ...this is a great CD track but IMO just not a pop song

I for one am most surprised that some are even commenting this song isn't as catchy as "Lovers In Japan".
I happen to think this is their most mainstream-friendly sounding song to date. It is concise, has an infectious sitar-ish riff that drives the song from beginning to end and an uplifting, soaring chorus with quite a punch. Moreover, it builds from the first to the second chorus, with the U2-ish "Ooh ooh oohhhhhh!" chants giving the song a climatic enough vibe.
"Lovers In Japan", on the other hand, was anti-climatic sounding, and, as aurally pleasing as its production is, kind of plodded along from beginning to end. Mid-way through the second verse, you can already sense a lack of build on Martin's part vocally, and after the second chorus there's just too much resignation musically happening for it to feel climatic.
If this flops, I think it'll have nothing to do with how commercial or non-commercial sounding it is, but simply because it comes from an EP rather than a proper album and thus there is little reason to push it.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

This is my favorite single of theirs ever. But I doubt this does anything on CHR sadly.
This however sounds like the perfect song for them to end every concert with, sounds liek a stadium song to me

WHY won't they just sent 'Lost' for adds like they should have in the first place?
Can somebody tell me what LIT "II" is though?

What you're descibing though IMO are characteristics that make it a great track for Triple A and Alternative (i. e. musical characteristics, intricacies etc.)...just don't think your average CHR listener has any clue what the title means or what the song is about

On the original release of VLVADAAHF the 1st track was "Life In Technicolor" which was an instrumental track. On the Prospekt's March Re-Release of VLVADAAHF, Life In Technicolor was re-recorded with lyrics, and renamed "Life In Technicolor II"

So that makes a ton of sense. I'll have to check it out because I thought LIT was beautiful.

I was thinking that Glass Of Water would be their next CHR single, because yesterday at work, the nationwide pop station that's always playing over the intercom played Glass Of Water. So that made me wonder.

I really don't think this album had any radio hits after Viva La Vida and Lost. Yeah, they missed the boat on Lost, and now any attempts at another CHR hit from this album is pointless, imo.

Nope, its almost been a year since Viva La Vida. I know Katy Perry is still having success after a year, but that's Katy Perry. CHR PDs are very particular about their Coldplay.

Unfortunately this won't make any significant impact on CHR. I wish they had released Cemeteries of London!

Seems like Coldplay doesn't really write for pop...sometimes they get a hit that really catches on with pop fans like VLV or Clocks, but their basic style IMO is Triple A/Alternative - only Coldplay song I can think of that really sounds like it was specifically written with CHR in mind is Speed Of Sound (IMO)

It looks like this'll snag #1 on Triple A, and it's already beginning a nice climb on HAC. Next stop CHR?

^I'd def. be lovin it but just can't picture it...just too intellectual I think Oh my god I know. Pop audiences have almost no respect for good music. It's like the only things that will hit now are club bangers about fellatio and disco sticks. If pop audiences listened to the music to actually listen to the music, Lovers In Japan would have done much better.

^Yeah...I think a lot of CHR fans listen mainly for the lyrics, and a simple easy-to-understand theme - the intricate instrumental stuff in the background though is def. why this shot to #1 on Triple A IMO

Awwh read that post too fast lol...only thing is DMB is so popular on Triple A that Funny The Way It Is could easily stay at #1 for months IMO - no doubt this'll get close though

This is one of my favourites by them. It doesn't sound like much at first, but by the 3 minute mark it's completely epic.
The video is probably the best of the year too.
