Past couple weeks, Kiss 95.7 in Hartford has been skipping the 'pre-top 10' segment on AT40. Does anyone know what the deal is with this or why they do this? This week, after "second chance" At #14 and the commercial break, they did the optional extra (All-american rejects move along) but then went right into a song I didn't recognize, and then to "We like to party" by the Vengaboys. When the countdown resumed some 15 minutes later, we were in the Top 10 with Jamie Foxx and #13 #12 and #11 hadn't been played. This has happened the past couple weeks.

My station does this too sometimes. I think it just has to do with sloppy and careless piecing together of the parts that the affiliate receives, and it's unintentional. My station once played an AT40 with parts of the current week's and the last week's show mixed together; it was just awful.

^You guys should hear AT40 on Star 94/ATL...they edit out almost all the urban/rap tracks and replace them with the rest of Star 94's playlist (that hasn't charted on AT40 yet) - always wondered why they pay the $$$ to have AT40 when they only use about 2/3 of it...

I've been reading about this insane practice at top 40 radio on this board and the old R&R board for several years, and this is indeed indefensibly stupid.
Radio stations have to quit insulting their listeners by editing those countdown shows by skipping tunes just because those station don't have those songs on their playlists.
The fact that two of the most heavily played songs of the past several years as it pertains to SPSPW (Spins Per Station Per Week) were flat-out ignored by over 18% (In The End) and 13% (Over & Over) of R&R's reporters must have really infuriated listeners and dedicated countdown show listeners on tons of top 40 stations across the country when those two songs were hits.
It really makes you wonder how those blockheads allegedly employed and paid to be PDs handled things when those two enormous tunes hit #1, and especially 'Over & Over', which spent several weeks atop the R&R charts.

When I didn't have Internet, I would listen to Rick Dees and AT40 and love it when songs that weren't on my station's playlist were on the countdown... usually they weren't past top 30. It was really the only chance I got to hear those songs and it felt somewhat like contact with the outside world... like I was trapped in my town. Hah. I still feel trapped in my town. So I appreciated that, and I find it disgusting that some stations edit their syndicated countdowns to exclude songs that aren't on their playlist. Maybe instead of doing that, the stations should take the hint and add the flipping songs.

If you email AT40, you might get them to contact that station to see what's going on. I'm not completely sure, but I think they have to sign an affidavit saying they agree to air the entire show.

Wow if that's true Star 94's in big trouble lol Actually think AT40 allows it and Dees doesn't, cause about a year and a half ago Star 94 dropped Dees show for AT40 and started editing in their own playlist
