The first single from Timbaland's 2007 album Shock Value. The "Laff At Em" remix features Jay-Z in place of Nelly Furtado. The song is a "diss" track but the artists addressed in the song are not mentioned by name. There's been speculation that the artists are Fergie, Scott Storch, Janet and/or Prince. This song went #1 on the Hot 100 and #3 on CHR/Pop. I like both the original and remix versions.

The track itself was amazing. I remember hearing this a few months before it became a huge hit.

Basically, it's the only song I like on Shock Value. But I really like it.

Fun at the time of its release but the multiple ill-advised disses present on the track always made me uneasy & definitely hampered what should've otherwise been a simple, party record.

I liked the one when it first came out. I got burnt out on it eventually. I liked the alternate Laff At 'Em remix.
The video was a disaster. It could have been done so much better given what a once-in-a-blue moon collaboration.

I was living under a rock apparently while this was a hit because I didn't hear it until months later. It's alright. I never listened to it much really.

This is a decent song. I really like the chorus, it's seems really different than other songs. And their verses are really clever too. And a collaboration of the hottest artists in 2006-2007!

The beat & hook are both hot. At the time it sounded fresh despite the oversaturation of Timbo's sound by that point.
The disses are so corny though. I can stomach Nelly's and Timbaland's, but even then Justin's verse really rubbed me the wrong way. While Nelly and Tim went after their contemporaries, Justin is really going to attack two legends (Janet and Prince) as if he's achieved as much? Bow down bitch!

"Could you speak up and stop mu-mumbling, I don't think you came in clear When you're sittin' on the top, it's hard to hear you from way up here I saw you tryin' to act cute on TV, "Just let me clear the air..." We missed you on the charts last week, damn, that's right you wasn't there If se-sexy never left, then why's everybody on my shi-it-it"
This is why some people find him to be a douche. Prince is on a unattainable level and to act like your success matches up is well cute. I also detest when younger acts who are hot atm try to drag artists of Princes status. JT is to Prince what Minaj is to Mimi irrelevant.

While Nelly and Tim went after their contemporaries, Justin is really going to attack two legends (Janet and Prince) as if he's achieved as much? Bow down bitch! I thought I remembered reading that Prince dissed him first shortly before this was released? Making Justin's in this song merely his receipt. Janet's, on the other hand...we all know the (3 year-old by this point ) story there. Something funny that I remember about this song, is from when I was doing my combination Billboard/Mediabase chart - these three got shut out of #1 there, stuck for three weeks behind "Girlfriend" (which was in the midst of a 5-week stay). I just think it's funny because here you have these three together on one track, and Avril just stopped them cold.

I don't care about the lyrics, but I really like the song. The music and vocal arrangement are really catchy. I agree it might have been a bit underproduced, but I'd rather have it that way than overproduced honestly. This is one of those songs that would have suffered from too much production, because overall simplicity is the name of this song's game.

I like this song, sonically. Lyrically I hate it. Justin had some nerve with those lyrics.
I can't believe all that he did to Janet..

I have mixed feelings about this one. I love the production, but some of the lyrics (namely the disses) are annoying. It also feels lackluster compared to most of the other singles from that era.

This song was decent. I preferred Timbaland's earlier work. Also Justin's diss on Prince lol.

This was good but sadly forgotten. It was a bit underwhelming when you put the 2 biggest stars - Nelly Furtado & Justin Timberlake on one song. I love the chorus though.
It's funny how this hit #1 on the Hot 100 when Apologize and The Way I Are were much more successful.

This is good but The Way I Are and Apologize are better. Also I didn't know it was a diss track until now.

This is what i consider a cheap #1. It's not a great song, but everyone was on fire at the time.
