SOTD so should have been top 3. Have no idea how their most pop friendly song ever missed the top 5. I agree. Love it. This isn't their strongest, but I'd say they have a good chance of going places with it.

It's nice to see they still have such a strong fanbase to get them #2 within 24 hours.

I agree with penpal99. Their sound has not changed since Hybrid Theory. They should continuously offer something fresh to the music scene in order to stay relevant. Wait, what? Penpal was saying he liked their old sound and doesn't like them anymore because they changed their sound. May be its just me - I know WID has some catchy hook (and I kind of like the flow of the lyrics) and SOTD (a nice power ballad stripped of the increasingly irriating bing-bang noises -but sounded half done which leaves you cold and wanting for more) from their last album (MTM). But the rest (and the album in general)are just plain tired- sounding (LOATR with its monotonous singing) AND awkward-sounding (BIO & Gu in which Chester's screaming is really bad. I think Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit can scream Chester's pant off - Fred is so much better at that). Quite a number of songs seems incomplete in the album Yes, IMHO - LP (and their MTM album) come across as lost and unsure - as if still in the experimental stage. And yes - for me their 'old sound' such from the Hybrid and Metora eras are so much better (remember In The End and Somewhere I belong) and sophisticated which showcase the uniqueness of LP.

^I have to totally disagree. MTM is one of my favorite albums ever. It was so experimental for them. Was it raw and at times gritty? Yes. But, that's why I liked it so much. It stood in such stark contrast to the overly-polished, super-produced sound they had become accustomed to (which I also liked). I LOVED almost every track on the album, outside of LOATR, which I agree was a bit bland.
And Chester is the best screamer. Period. IMO. lol.

OK, everyone's gonna think I'm crazy but I figured out what this does remind me of a bit in the chorus. Come Clean by Hilary Duff. :o

IMHO - i think that creative-wise, LP has reached a bottleneck at this point of time. With or without experimenting new direction/musicality/ or whatsoever, they are still running in a circle and back to square one. Thus even with the so-called new sound/Production from MTM (with all the different methods/styles of singing and performing) - they still sound like they are still ripping quite a fair bit from the previous albums....
And this is reflected in the new single - full of old tricks if you know what i mean

Unless you call "old tricks" ones they have been using since their last album which was a new sound for them.

I wish they had timed this to be released with Transformers though. Then it could have really had a gigantic first sales week, and not had to worry about all the AI stuff that will flood iTunes on Thursday.

Has a single exclusively from a soundtrack ever topped iTunes before?

It's #1 on iTunes!!!! :o :o :o *Faints* :o :o :o Hallelujah! I think they should make sure they have a new album ready to go so that they can capitalize off of this. They can do a Kelly Clarkson Breakaway type deal. Include this track on the new album and it kind of is, kind of isn't the 1st single.

Well last I heard the album wasn't coming out till early '10, so I don't think they'll have a new album to immediately follow this up.

I think they should rethink that pronto. Let this single run its course, then immediately release the "1st" single from the new album. Release the album as that single peaks. That would put the album release around Nov. or Dec. of this year. That isn't too much of a stretch from early '10, plus they can capitalize on Christmas sales. Someone get their marketing team on this shit. :)

Hey just heard this...it is really similar to What I've Done - just seems like rock bands this year (except for Shinedown) keep comin out with tracks that sound just like the tracks on their last CD - just don't think it looks that great for rock on CHR this year (at least through the summer)
Would be lovin it if this did well on CHR but just thing it's too similar to their previous stuff...
