IMHO - i think that creative-wise, LP has reached a bottleneck at this point of time. With or without experimenting new direction/musicality/ or whatsoever, they are still running in a circle and back to square one. Thus even with the so-called new sound/Production from MTM (with all the different methods/styles of singing and performing) - they still sound like they are still ripping quite a fair bit from the previous albums.... And this is reflected in the new single - full of old tricks if you know what i mean Keep in mind this isn't them releasing a new album. Just a song for a soundtrack. Not much "Change" is expected and I think they knew that. I wouldn't condemn them just yet. Especially with Chester's solo album coming out this fall.

I like this song. I can't believe its number one, what a stronger fanbase. Anyways Fred durst scream >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Chester scream You have GOT to be kidding me. Fred Durst? Chester can actually scream. And... manages to hit actual notes. At the same time. Nothing beats that.

I agree with you actually - I could be too harsh on them but honestly i was really disappointed with MTM's efforts by LP. They could be so much better - I suppose I wanted them to be a clean-cut band with clean lyrics and all those stuff(which they were in the begining). And when they started to get 'dirty' - I sort of flip over. I measn if i want a ghetto version of LP - I've already had Limp Bizkit (I am still listening to their awfully good abum 'Chocolate Starfish & Hot Dog Flavored Water) to please my 'angrier' side. But honestly - personally my fave of the group is Mike Shinoda, rather than Chester's whose voice didn't work for me. I always found that Mike is the soul of the group and his rapping always brings out the essence of the song. So you can say that i am not looking forward to Chester's solo project..

I like him a lot and I think he is really talented. I really hate all of this solo album stuff from group members. Linkin Park is my favorite band and I don't want to waste time on a solo album from another one of them, Mike's was bad enough. Why do people (Beyonce, Nicole Sherzinger, Fergie, etc) feel the need to do this?

I always found that Mike is the soul of the group and his rapping always brings out the essence of the song. So you can say that i am not looking forward to Chester's solo project.. Mike is also my favorite from the group. I think he's the most talented, he can think up wicked beats and his lyrics are really meaningful. (Which is why I really like Fort Minor's album). It's one of the only rappers I like, and he happens to be one of my favorite artists. All I'm saying is that If Linkin Park HAD stuck with their original sound, you know that they'd be dead by now. I mean, people were already complaining about how Hybrid Theory and Meteora were too similar, and saying some of the songs sound exactly the same. I think they knew they needed to change, and took a new direction. And look, It created a much broader audience for them. I respect that aspect about them, they know how to create songs that people will like, no matter how they sound. I have to say I was skeptical about the MTM album at first as well, but I've grown to love it for what it is. No band can hope to please their fans with every single album they release though...so I understand. People change, and so do bands. Oh no! Seriously, a Chester solo album? I like him a lot and I think he is really talented. I really hate all of this solo album stuff from group members. Linkin Park is my favorite band and I don't want to waste time on a solo album from another one of them, Mike's was bad enough. Why do people (Beyonce, Nicole Sherzinger, Fergie, etc) feel the need to do this? Fort Minor was amazing. Some of the best lyrics from a rapper I've ever heard, and really catchy and down to earth as well. I see solo albums not as a waste of time, but kinda like 'bonus tracks" to the original. No one's asking you to like it though. I honestly don't think the album will be as good as Fort Minor, or Linkin Park by any means, but I'm still looking forward to hearing it. btw, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_By_Sunrise

Chester's screaming is torture, especially on "Given Up".

I had no idea there would be such demand for a new Linkin Park single.

After Journey's original version of it has been a mainstay on the iTunes chart for months? Try years. I also found it surprising that LP was holding up so well. But then I thought about how many people LP appeal to. They've had success on CHR, Alternative, Active and Mainstream Rock, HAC, AAA, etc. Heck, Fort Minor and their collaborations with Jay-Z and Busta Rhymes have charted on Rhythmic. They've got a nice following.

I really want this, No Surprise, and If Today Was Your Last Day to be hits on CHR. There's a lot of potential right now in those 3 songs for some good rock influence on CHR radio this summer. Let's just hope the stations realize that.
