Wow, this is fast. A label that knows what they're doing for once, what a concept!

This is their best bet at a crossover hit this album era.
While it musically sounds like a hit to me, I wonder if, lyrically, the song will be negatively affected in terms of potential, simply because the national mood among younger demographics has reversed overall since "American Idiot". During the mid-Bush years through the end of his second term, Generation Y in particular was most livid and disenchanted with the direction America was heading in and, while Bush's approval rating was still strong enough to get him re-elected in 2004 (between 45-50% in most polls), it was the youngest voting demographics that first particularly disapproved of him and his policies, and the most to feel frustrated about the state of things in general.
Thus, Green Day could NOT have chosen a better time to release "American Idiot" and, because both the message of their album and its tone clicked with many young Americans, the album has become not only a major commercial success; it has become a cultural relic as well...............an album that best defines the disenchantment younger Americans had during that era.
Now that Bush is out of office, and Barack Obama is the new president...........a president which was most enthusiastically supported by the 18-27 year old voting demographic compared to all other demographics...............and the polls also show that younger Americans are most likely to say that we are heading in the right direction now...............I don't think most young Americans are in the mood for more doom and gloom. They want to hear something more motivational, inspiring, or at least a thematic respite of sorts from what they heard five years ago.
Should "21 Guns" fall short of expectations, THAT is why it will do so, I believe. But I certainly hope this becomes a big hit for them, for this is far superior to "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" both musically, vocally and lyrically.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

So first they release an "American Idiot" sound-alike, and then a "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" sound-alike. Maybe they'll release "East Jesus Nowhere" next so we can have a "Holiday" sound-alike.

With all of these artists together, we're in for an excellent summer. I dunno if this track is strong enough for top 10, but definitely top 15.

Yeah this is probably the catchiest single so far this year, only second to "Poker Face." #1 pop single.
"Know Your Enemy" is "Violet Hill"... they both were well received and did well on rock formats.
"21 Guns" is "Viva La Vida"... crossover smashes.

Damn catchy! (This, along with "Knock You Down", has been playing in my head for a couple of days now.)

Although I wouldn't say it's highly unlikely to hit #1 on CHR, but more unlikely than likely though.

I don't think they'll have any big Pop hits this era. This will probably be the most successful single I guess, though.

It has all the tools to do it. Kinda worried that they keep puttin out tracks with aggressive/confrontational themes...perfect for Rock Formats but just not sure CHR's gonna take to a track with a hook/title "21 Guns", even if they've toned down the tempo Would love for this to blow up on CHR but just don't think it's gonna get high enough female callout...

This is their best best for a cross-over hit. or even better, a multi-format hit.

^It's def. gonna rule all Rock formats (including Triple A) IMO...thinkin it's gonna dent Hot AC and CHR but not sure how much...and no doubt downloads/CD sales are gonna continue to be through the roof
