Hearing them sing the coronation song was simply painful. Adam was sharp and pitchy while Kris looked like he'd pop a vein while struggling to reach those high notes. I think this song would have sounded a lot better with a female singing it. I hope whoever wins re-arranges this song to make it somewhat enjoyable. As of now, I find myself longing for Cook's magic rainbows, which is slightly disturbing to me since I really detested that song.

I think this song is horrible. It fits neither of them at all. :( With that said, I hope Adam wins so Kris isn't stuck with that song.

^^Isn't it ironical that that a coronation song, which is supposedly meant to showcase what's best of the winner, ends up in highlighting the flaws and weaknesses of the 2 contestants. Which is that the Adam Lambart mania is just simply a mad overload of screechiness; while the underdog world of Kris Allen is all about unremarkable singing made remarkable.
Yes - obviously the NB song is a sub-standard tune in every which way - ie . melody, lyrics, structure - which makes singing it a real tough challenge. But I honestly expect both (who have come so far) to rise supreme (or at least tried to) over it so as to make us appreciate them even more. But this is not the case as it turned out to be.
Which is why (IMHO) I conclude that both are not worthy to become winners at all since their finale performances are a big let-down overall. Adam. starting from top 3 night, is gearing dangerously close to being a one-trick screaming pony, and Kris, from day 1, is still wearing the badge of blandness and non-identity
And The coronation song should end in the garbage bin for all eternity...

I agree with you for the most part. They are two of the most talented this season, but I still don't think they are huge, undiscovered talents like Carrie, Kelly, Archuletta, Daughtry, or Hudson. Kris has a very radio friendly tone to his voice. I really think he could be the most successful contestant of this season. Adam, as talented as he is, will likely be a marketing challenge. I personally don't enjoy his range at all, and his theatrical performances usually don't appeal to male audiences. He comes across as wanting to have a rock career, but I don't know if the male audience will be there to support him in the long run, and I'm not sure if the female support will be enough. Only time will tell, but my money's on Kris.

I have to agree that NB revealed the flaws in both guys big time. A great singer would have done something with that cheese. Great going, Kara.

I was hoping that the coronation song would be a little better than the usual awfulness they come up with each year, but they managed to top themselves and come out with something that reaches new lows. Almost every little cliche lyric that could possibly be used is in this song. I mean, Kara DioGuardi and Cathy Dennis can be considered decent lyricists sometimes. I thought Adam's version of it was okay, but a bit on the dramatic side (LOL). Kris' was a bit underwhelming, but he did what he could with it. I mean, he could only do so much with a mess like this. At the end of the day, this is just a coronation song. LOL Idk why they didn't just go with "This is My Now" again LOLOL It may have been a bit cheesey, but that one was actually not that horrible. I liked a "A Moment Like This."

Ugh, this song is such garbage. Why does American Idol persist in releasing such cheesy and awful songs for the AI winners each year. It seems like every year the songs were rushed together in 30 minutes or less using every predictable cliche in the book. :(

I can't believe Idol still churns out this crap for the coronation song. Is it a nostalgia thing for them at this point--to come out with truly awful songs that the contestants and, ultimately, winners simply have to endure instead of enjoy?
It was one thing to stick Kelly with A Moment Like This. It was the first season, no one knew what would happen with her career, so a super-cheesy song was practically expected. That she actually managed to make it listenable was a bonus for them.
But they've made so many changes to the show from the bare-bones first season to now, I can't believe they don't drop the coronation song thing and really work on spectacular (or, at least decent) first singles with the finalists. It doesn't have to be inspiring or "I did it!"-esque...it can really just be a good song. What would be so awful about their first single being something in a similar vein to what is actually charting now?

This coronation song is kind of... well it stinks.
1. Kelly's 2. Jordin's 3. Reuben's 4. Fantasia's 5. Carrie's 6. David's 7. Taylor's BLACK HOLE 8. Adam/Kris'

It doesn't have to be inspiring or "I did it!"-esque...it can really just be a good song. What would be so awful about their first single being something in a similar vein to what is actually charting now? Exactly. Right now, every single songwriter wants to have them sing their songs. Why not allow each to choose the best song offered to them? Especially right now, before they lose their thunder. Adam would have chosen an amazing rock song while Kris would have chosen a fun pop song -- two different songs for two very different people / voices. Yes, one wins, but that doesn't mean both can't release singles at the same time. This would still allow #2 to shine if he chooses a good single (and let's face it, #2 truly deserves it). They need to stop making two unique singers try to tackle the same song and arrangement. Some singers like Kelly Clarkson can sing anything and sound incredible, but Kelly's one of the very few (and I mean, very few) in the entire industry who is as versatile. Regardless, the single will sell a ton of downloads in spite of how bad it is. Such a shame Idol doesn't truly propel two great talents to superstardom like they deserve. If they force both of them to star in a musical, I swear it will be the end of it. It's funny how 7 years later, a musical with both winners still sounds absolutely ridiculous. Poor Kelly! :(

It's a song that would do good on radio, that's what their aiming for. No coronation song has really been a hit on radio since "A Moment Like This". Pop Peaks: "A Moment Like This" #4 "Fly Without Wings" [didn't crack top 50] "I Believe" [didn't crack top 50] "Inside Your Heaven" #48 "Do I Make You Proud" [didn't crack top 50] "This Is My Now" [didn't crack top 50] "The Time of My Life" #27 So as you can see, only three of them have cracked the top 50 on pop. Only two went top 40, and only one top 20/10/5. Granted, "The Time of My Life" hit #1 on HAC, but really, HAC isn't that hard to get a #1 on with a ballad like that.

I haven't listened to this yet, and from the comments here it doesn't sound too good. Maybe the recorded versions will be better.

I think the studio of this will be amazing, especially for Kris, but this is far from a good song live.

I have a feeling that the studio versions will sound great, even if the song sucks. For once I agree with Nigel Lythgoe who said “There are going to be some great guests tonight and I think it’s a close competition. The only downside is hearing the winner’s song again.”

Coronation songs 1. Time of My Life (yes the magic rainbow lyric is heinous, but melodic wise, this actually is a decent song, and I didn't get that annoyed hearing it on HAC radio so much.) 2. A Moment Like This (Again, melodically, not a bad song.) 3. I Believe 4. Flying Without Wings 5. Inside Your Heaven 6. This Is My Now 7. Do I Make You Proud? 8. Hell 9. No Boundaries

You know what's really sad? DIMYP is the last winers song to top the Billboard Hot 100 :X
And if they continue with s**t like this, it may continue being the last....

LYRICS: Seconds hours so many days You know what you want but how long can you wait Every moment last forever if you feel you’ve lost your way What if your chances are already gone Started believing that I could be wrong But you give me one good reason to fight and never walk away
Coz hear I am — still holding on!
Every step you climb another mountain Every breathe its harder to believe
You’ll make it through the pain (or through all your aches and pains) Weather the hurricane To get to that one thing
When you think the road is going nowhere Just when you’ve almost gave up on your dreams Then take it by the hand and show you that you can
You can go higher You can go deeper There are no boundaries Above and beneath you B-reak every rule coz there’s nothing between you and your dreams
Every step you climb another mountain Every breathe its harder to believeThe lyrics is just a combined trashed of many garbage songs.

KRIS!!!!!!
YAY!!!!!!
You know, after hearing it for a second time, this is a pretty good song. It's beginning to really grow on me! The lyrics still completely suck, but it's kind of addicting.
