Early predictions for album sales fall in the 140-150k area.

^Great. On par for them. Phobia opened with 130k, so the increase was what I figured it would be.

Like Chevelle's new album, I think this one will have to grow on me to really get into it. I like "I Will Not Bow" better than "Break." However, at this point "Life Starts Now" sounds better to me than "Dear Agony." Agreed. I think I Will Not Bow is better than maybe half the tracks on the 3DG album including Break, but overall I like more of the songs on the 3DG album than I do on BB. Then again the only songs I've really liked by BB were the singles.

^Same. I never have been able to get into BB's album tracks, with the exception of a few on Phobia.

We can't say for sure who will outsell who yet. I expected AIC to do more than BB, but I won't find it shocking or anything if BB outsells AIC. BB is a current rock band after all, whereas AIC is coming out of a 14 year hiatus.

Haha, pretty much their only song that I DON'T like is "Topless," and that's held as a fan favorite. Well I'm not too fond of "Believe" either, but other than that nothing comes to mind. Yeah, I'm a true supafan. IWNB is probably my least favorite on the CD, but that should change once I've heard the others as much. I probably won't be listening to anything else for a LONG time. BTW: My album was freakin' back-ordered. I sent an angry email and got back an automated response. It basically said: "Please be patient, you should receive your item within the next 2 weeks." SCREW THAT! I went to my local best buy and saw they only had two copies left. Heck $10 for a CD and bonus disk? Why not? So I guess in two weeks I'll have two copies. Oh well, I ordered the one for free with a gift card anyway.

Wait...so Breaking Benjamin is on pace to sell double what Three Days Grace did in its first week? Radio should take notice. They won't though. And Breaking Benjamin is currently the top album on iTunes.
That said, Paramore has two versions of their record, one at #2 and the other a #4. My guess is if you add the sales of those two together, that's really the #1 record. #2 wouldn't be bad at all though for BB.

^Overall though they're looking at about a number 4-5 entry. Phobia debuted at number 2, but Dear Agony is on pace to sell about 25,000 more copies. It's at number 3 on amazon mp3 behind Paramore and Mariah Carey respectively. Paramore has their album there for $4, so if anyone wants to pick it up then that's the place.

Lol, the few exceptions on Phobia I was talking about are actually Topless and Dance With the Devil.

And Breaking Benjamin is currently the top album on iTunes. Well, BB also sold more albums in the first week with their last album than 3DG. 3DG has longevity which is the reason why the last album they outsold BB.

About Dear Agony, I think the first three tracks, "Fade Away", "I Will Not Bow" and "Crawl" are really good and are among the best Breaking Benjamin has ever recorded, the rest is just average.
I must add that that's how I feel about all of their records, though.
I really need to create my own Breaking Benjamin's best of compilation...

The singles should be "Give Me A Sign" and "What Lies Beneath", or there is no God.

"Fade Away" and "Crawl" feel too generic hard rock to do anything more than maybe climb the active rock charts based on name alone.

I'm hoping for "Give Me A Sign" myself. And I really like "What Lies Beneath" too, but that would be too straight ballads. "Crawl" is basically this album's "Breath," and that's their biggest hit, so I don't think it would be running on name value alone. I'll agree that "Fade Away" is generic, but it's Breaking Benjamin generic and I think it's a great opener. I think "Fade Away" only should've been a single if it were first, instead of the likely second single.

They need songs with oomph. "Fade Away" does not have oomph. I'll accept "Crawl" but only if there's an Alternative single to go with it.

"Fade Away" is really cliché with the "Cold and broken" stuff. Seriously, we get it now that your cold Ben, along with Crossfade and Evans Blue. We don't need to hear about it any more. Melodically "Crawl" is way better, and it's heavier so it gets my vote between the two. I haven't heard anything beyond the first three tracks yet. Then again, in those three tracks, I like each song better than the one preceding it so maybe the later tracks you guys are mentioning are where it's at. If they're ballads, I say pull a 3DG and save your "Never Too Late" for single #3. Then again, Shinedown would say go for the crossover on single #2.

I got this album and I'm not totally in love with it yet...that's how it always is for BB albums though. I have to get into their vibe....after a few spins I will begin having favorite tracks probably. Great album to jog to....

In the first three tracks ... I like each song better than the one preceding it. I think the tracks get better and better until track 5, "Hopeless." I still like "Hopeless," but I think it's the weakest track on the album. That, "Fade Away" and "Lights Out" are the only weaker tracks IMO. But I still think any one of them is much better than a lot of what's on the radio now. Which is good, cause I have a hunch that at least two of them will be singles, hopefully I'm wrong though. I say pull a 3DG and save your "Never Too Late" for single #3. Then again, Shinedown would say go for the crossover on single #2. I'm hoping they go Shinedown with "Give Me A Sign," but they're probably more likely to pull a 3DG with "Dear Agony," especially since that jumped to the number 2 spot on the iTunes rock chart shortly after release (behind "I Will Not Bow," no less). That is if they wanna release a straight up ballad at all. I have a feeling "What Lies Beneath" will be third, which would be good after "Fade Away" or "Crawl," since it's fairly mid-tempo and "Until the End-esque." I don't think it would be a good choice after "Sign" or the title track though.

im surprised more of you aren't mentioning lights out that much. I mean yeah Crawl is great, fade and hopeless have single potential...also give me a sign and into the nothing but my personal fav track is definitely Lights Out. I agree with you weaver, this cd like most others took a few listens to before really getting into it but overall i think it's great. It might even grow up there with RED's innocence and instinct for my fav album of this year.
