We have up to 4 potential recurrents this week; Kid Cudi will definitely be gone, but any one of AAR, The Fray or Flo Rida could live another week. 16-20 looks like it will be blocked out by rising songs; BEP, Keri, Taylor, Jordin and the Ting-Tings, meaning that all three of AAR, The Fray and Flo Rida will be pushed below #20, and joining Kid Cudi in recurrent-land. We should be seeing David Cook re-enter top 50 because of this, and for Ashley Tisdale to debut in the top 50. Two others will join them should this be the case. If the current trends from the building chart continued, Don't Trust Me would edge out Boom Boom Pow for #1 by just 55 spins, three songs (You Found Me, Right Round, and Day N Nite) would go recurrent, there would be four top-40 debuts--Best I Ever Had (#37), Use Somebody (#38), Hush Hush; Hush Hush (#39), and So Fine (#40)--and Take Me On The Floor would get to spend yet another week at #41. TMotF's spins have been all over the place though, so it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it started gaining again later in the week, or at least held steady (which would be enough for it to hop into the top 40 after the 3-4 songs go recurrent).

Don't forget that "Beggin'" will also be purged, although it will probably be below #50 before that happens come Sunday.
Also, I would expect "Gives You Hell" to be on the way down especially once "Battlefield" passes it tomorrow. Either "You Belong With Me" or "That's Not My Name" (very likely the former) should get into the Top 20 by week's end, enough for "Gives You Hell" to join the others headed for recurrent-land.

TNMN could make top 20 by week's end but that's the only uncertainty. Taylor and Jordin will definitely join BEP and Keri in the 15-20 bracket, it will depend on the movements of the Ting-Tings and the stuff coming down that would ensure 4 recurrents.
I'm also not sure about Madcon; they may be purged, but I might've thought it would have been purged already if it was going to meet that fate. I also think it's safe to say Kevin Rudolf will be purged, as he's almost out of the top 40 with a -1000. That makes a potential 6 song clean-out if things play out just so.

As I said in the Top 50 thread, I have doubts about Kevin Rudolf getting purged... he may survive one more week if, for example, once recurrents are removed it is at #40. It may be purged still, but I think there is some uncertainty. Also, given the rate of decrease of Jamie Foxx, he may end up below AAR by Sunday. If The Ting Tings do not increase much, we could have an scenario with Taylor Swift entering the Top20, Jamie Foxx leaving, The Ting Tings at #21 and AAR staying at #20 for yet another week! Interesting to check out over the next few days

I haven't looked at today's trends yet, so things may have changed...

I don't hate it but it's their worst single to date and should not still be hanging around like this. It's bad enough that it became their biggest hit ever. Although if it means "Blame It" continues to freefall, I don't really mind seeing "Gives You Hell" hang on another week. On a positive note, "Battlefield" is my favorite Jordin Sparks single now, so it's nice to see it jump into the top 20.

It now appears all four songs will go recurrent after all... and at long last, Take Me On The Floor will sneak in a week in the top 40 (despite not being at its spin peak and being well below 700 spins).

Regardless of who is on top tomorrow, when was the last time we had a #1 song with so few spins?

Didn't Take Me on the Floor make it in to the top 40 during a midweek chart a few weeks ago? I just checked... Take Me on the Floor was #40 on Monday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 9th... This brings up a question... If a song hit the top 40 during a midweek update, but not during a final update, can we consider it a Top 40 hit???

Nope, unfortunately. Otherwise we could also call songs like 'I Hate This Part' top 10 hits when they weren't.

Azriel is correct. Only positions on the published Sunday evening charts count. Right now, Take Me On The Floor's peak position shows as #41 (where it's spent an incredible, potentially record-setting number of days, including several Sunday evenings).
However, by the slimmest of margins, it appears the song will lock up a week at #40 tonight with just 661 spins, assuming its 2-spin lead over Careless Whisper doesn't change in the reconciliation updates this afternoon and evening.

I'd say you could count them if you wanted to. As long as you specify that it was Top 10/40 during mid-weeks. It wasn't a published weekly #1/Top 10/Top 40 but it still made it there nonetheless.

You're certainly welcome to count them , but neither Mediabase nor Billboard (nor Radio & Records before it vanished) counts them. Peak position is based on the highest position on a published chart.

Yeah, I wouldn't count them either. Access to the Mediabase rolling charts is a privilege, and if we didn't have that privilege, we would have no way in hell of knowing which songs were where until every Sunday, for the official update. That's how every other chart works, and that's how I (and most others) treat the Mediabase. And I think that is cool how the Veronicas will finally get a week in the top 40, due to four recurrents at the same time, when they are not even close to their peak. When was the last time the number 40 song had less than 700 spins? That's a shocker to me.

When was the last time four songs went recurrent during the same week, without including purged songs? Quite a while.
As a matter of fact, it's the first time that's happened this year. Given the current circumstances, this served as a lucky break for just about every song below the Top 20. Not only that, but the slots last occupied by this week's recurrents were back-to-back-to-back-to-back (from #22 through #25). Again, you don't see that happen regularly.
The remaining songs that made up the bottom portion of the chart (#26 through #50) enjoyed an easy boost of four spots each. Provided that these songs continue moving up at a good pace, many of them will have an advantage again next week as two more songs will achieve recurrency ("Kiss Me Thru The Phone" and "Come On Get Higher"). Both songs currently sit around the mid-20s.
Of all the weekly chart updates that have taken place this year and in my case, since I've joined this forum, this week turned out to be major, all things considered.

MJ takeover screwed us up. Oh well. It didn't really change anything other than the spin totals, which were universally lower. It didn't benefit any one particular song over another.
