Two very popular, very dead, singer/songwriters. Both with their haydays in the 80's.
But who was the better singer/performer ?
was it
A- Freddie Mercury - the powerhouse vocalist whose leg to arm ratio was so anatomically precise, he could hold a microphone stand at a perfect 45 degrees. The man without whom, Lady GaGa may well have called herself Lady GooGoo.
or is it
B- Michael Jackson - the demure dancer who wowed us with his amazing ability to walk backwards, without falling over. The man who the Navajo nation revered so highly, they named him "Kahanda-do" (roughly translated "dances with Zombies").
and for those who adorn their fences with comfy chairs you may select
C- Both as good as each other.

Freddie Mercury's voice gives him the clear edge. His songs were also better, and I liked him better as a performer. Not even remotely close for me.

They are probably the 2 artists, dead or alive that I wish I could see live. Michael wins though.

This is soooo hard. Queen is the Greatest Band That Ever Existed. They are better than the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, and pink Floyd. They are the best. Logic tells me that Freddie is superior.
But Michael is it for me. At his peak, he was perfect. He was the best looking guy I ever saw, with the best personality ever, he could dance better than anyone else, he could sing better than anyone else, he wrote the best songs in the world, he wore the best clothes, he had coolest videos... nobody is on his level for me.
I'm a pop music fan, first a foremost. Michael wins.

Oh, and Andy, Queen's heyday was in the 70s, both artistically ("You're My Best Friend", "Don't Stop Me Now", "Killer Queen", "Somebody To Love"...) and commercially ("Bohemian Rhapsody", A Night At The Opera, News Of The World).

So funny, no one cared much for Mercury when he was alive- it's interesting to see. Freddie had a good voice but I never saw him as a great performer. Jackson tops him there- I think Freddie wrote a song with Jackson once.

Michael Jackson is the far better performer and I prefer his voice as well.

Mercury is the better singer, but Jackson the better performer.

I loathe Queen. I think they are the most overrated, ridiculous band in history. I'm glad my parents never listened to them. I feel like I'm spared the fate of being parrot like 'Y2K' kid talking about the greatness/importance of Queen.
Michael's voice is incredible. People always underestimate that side of him (Earth Song alone shows he can match Mercury vocally). After that, we've got Michael with the better collection of songs, as a better dancer, performer.
