Anyone who says that "it doesn't matter if you're old, if you send a good song, US radio willplay it" is seriously living in Lala Land. 4 Minutes is one of Madonna's worst songs, and it was a top 5 hit. JUMP was one of Madonna's most solid efforts, with a memorable melody and impeccable production values, and it flopped. But 4M had Timbo and Justin.
Confessions was a great dance pop record, hugely influenced by disco music and European techno, and so is The Fame, and yet look at how LG's disc has hit after hit. If Lady Gaga released COnfessions, it would garner radio hits. The reality is that we live in an ageist society, period, and that is reflected on MTV, radio playlists, movies, etc. Back in the eighties, Tina Turner and plenty other artists, male and female could have huge hits on the radio. Now, you hit 40 and you are deemed "lame", "desperate", "a hasbeen" etc, even if like Madonna, you have blockbuster tour after blockbuster tour. It's a reality. Madonna has released plenty of good songs that radio ignores, just like Rihanna, Beyonce and Fergie have released crappy songs that radio embraces. Are you guys gonna tell me that every single song they have released is a genuinely strong single? No way. Just way until all those girls hit the big 4-0

you're right. Mariah's just about there, as is Gwen, you can definitely count out Paula, Janet, Whitney. I'm not familiar too much with ages, but who out there are in their mid-to late 30's?

you're right. Mariah's just about there, as is Gwen, you can definitely count out Paula, Janet, Whitney. I'm not familiar too much with ages, but who out there are in their mid-to late 30's? Jennifer Lopez just turned 40, but even before that, radio play has seemed to ellude her as of late. And that is even though she has always had strong crossover appeal within the "urban" markets, thanks to all the collaborations she's done with rappers and her "colored"-girl-from-the-Bronx thing. It's a reality...not to mention that most radio programmers are guys, and with female singers you have to have what they narrowly consider "sex appeal", which usually excludes "old" women. Who knows, there could always be a fluke in Madonna's future...maybe she will release a song that will be her "BELIEVE" (Massive late-career worldwide hit INCLUDING America, that revitalizes the stagnant radio career of a former hit-maker), but I wouldn't bet on it. It's sad, that other countries seem to have no problem with Madonna's age. except America. And Madonna can't win either way; If she releases a crappy song with a hot young thing (4M) she is desperate for a hit, and if she releases a good song with a hot young thing(Revolver) she is desperate for a hit. And if Revolver is a hit, you bet your ass that nobody will give Madonna any credit for it.

just do what i do and concentrate on the world charts and forget about the hot 100. She is still the queen on top of the world, and that matters most, i think.

they should sing all her songs that didn't hit the top 10. That way, she'll hit top 10 with them all!!!

Spree, the versions that will chart will be the new ones sung by the cast of Glee, but Madonna will "appear" on the Hot 100 since she wrote the songs, etc.

She did interviews with Letterman, Seacrest and a skit on SNL, along with a few magazine/newspaper interviews. That's a lot more than I expected.

Probably, but those appearances hardly had to do anything with Celebration the present album, rather Madonna as an artist.

That is a major coup for Glee. Madonna has one of the strongest and most extensive catalogs in the pop world. Kudos.
