it's their last chance of making money off of madonna and they would sabotage her?
think more money and less ego, people.

^nah, it's only just begun. This is all word-of-mouth stuff now. No airplay and no advertising whatsoever. Well, very minimal...
besides, they keep taking all the youtube vids down so the average joe has no choice but to search for it on iTunes. Once the song is officially released and the videos aren't taken down, that's when things will start.
still #2 on Amazon tho. Ahead of Boom Boom Pow now.

^cuz it's advertised there, and it's on the front page of the downloads section and everything. It's visible. On iTunes it's not. They don't even have the correct cover art yet.

Lack of an iTunes ad can only account for so much. I think this just shows how much her popularity in the U.S. has waned.

I agree that that she's obviously not as popular in the US as she used to be, that's not really debatable. But did you really expect a dance track by a 51 year old woman, one day of airplay, and no ad to let anyone know the song even exists to fly up the charts?

I would bet money that Celebration at #110 on Itunes is selling just as much or more as the #2 Celebration on Amazon. That's how little impact Amazon has on digital sales. And for the record, I'm a huge Madonna fan, so I'm not trying to troll or anything. I'm just stating a fact. She's still huge virtually everywhere else, but her popularity has greatly decreased in the U.S. over the last half of this decade. And the sold out tours are mostly older fans who love her for her past hits, and I'd wager couldn't even tell you the name of one of her songs past the Music album, maybe even past Ray of Light.

and i'd even go as far to say that most of her fanbase is waiting for it's official release before buying it on iTunes. They are just like Lambs. They know what's up. I bought it, cuz i had to have it on my ipod right away. I'm sure i'll be buying it again. And the album.

It was so cute! They exist. I sat next to them. They loved it!

But yeah, the lack of any acknowledgment to it's existence on iTunes definitely is hindering it, no doubt about that.

so its stalling around #108 or so? Actually no, its down to 110 It didn't go down, you just weren't looking at the most updated list, they all say something different as they all reload at different times. (i.e. Top 250, Top 300, Top 1000, etc...)

If iTunes is indeed a 24-hour rolling chart, then starting about now, any "Celebration" sales will add directly to its rolling total, since the track was removed about this time yesterday (as opposed to having the prior day's sales subtracted while the new ones are added). If that's the case, that should help "Celebration" scoot up the chart a little faster through tomorrow morning. In other news, I heard the album version of "Celebration" on the radio for the first time today.

Lack of an iTunes ad can only account for so much. I think this just shows how much her popularity in the U.S. has waned. Truly the dumbest thing I've ever read on here. The song was supposed to go to downloads Tuesday and it only got its Tuesday radio add date *yesterday.* The download was rush released the day after the leak (yesterday) with nothing alerting people of the move. The song made it to #116 in a few hours yesterday but then WB pulled it from iTunes until late this morning. It now is already at #104. All of this is without any promo, no video, no iTunes ad, several days before the official radio debut, and only 3 days after the song leaked online. The vast majority of the general public knows nothing about this song yet. Seriously, what possessed you to type that post?

The fact of the matter is if Rihanna, Kanye, Lady Gaga, Jonas Brothers or any of the other people that are popular in the U.S. right now had released a new song, it wouldn't matter how long it had been out, or if it had an ad, or what day it came out, it would be doing well on iTunes. People find out about new songs like wildfire, and if its a popular artist, it doesn't take long for that song to be rocketing up iTunes. It takes a lot more for that to happen with someone like Madonna, because she's not in that league of popularity in the U.S. anymore. People are gonna actually have to hear this on the radio a few times and if they like it then maybe they download it. She's not just gonna sell a song on her name here anymore like some artists can is the point.

but all those above artists...Gaga, Kanye, Beyonce, etc.......if they release a song or leak a song in this situation and don't tell anybody about it, only the fanbase would know about it. That's the point i think pdc1987 is trying to make. And it's silly to think Madonna's entire global worldwide fanbase HAS to download the song the minute it's leaked, or else it's considered a flop. People have lives you know. If i had worked all yesterday and today, i probably wouldn't have known about it till now.

When did I ever say that just because it hasn't rocketed up iTunes the whole song is a flop now? All I ever said was that the fact that it's not having an immediate impact on itunes shows her popularity has waned. Nothing more nothing less. And plenty of big artists have released new song right of the blue, and they still fly up iTunes. Miley Cyrus does it all the freaking time.
