Poker Face and Just Dance use an earily similar backbeat so I don't get how (other than lyrics) one can draw much of a distinction between the two.

But they are very similar. (I prefer Poker Face by miles though.)

Eh, Eh underperformed in the markets it was released. It would flop in the US, in my opinion. I'd rather see them not releasing more singles than releasing Eh, Eh.
BTW, does anyone knows what song is going to be the next UK single? LoveGame should be released over there.

Supposedly, LoveGame wasn't released because the video and the lyrics were too explicit, but i think that UK should get LG too.

A VMA performance can definitely give this song a 200k digital week.

Secondly, PF annoys the hell out of me. Especially the "pa-pa-pa-poker face pa-pa-poker face" part. If it were pa-pa-pa-poker face, fa-fa-fuck her face, would you like it more? What if you pretended to poke people in the face with your finger during that part?

Having said that, they usually blank out swear words on daytime family music radio shows. Anyway, LoveGame goes for UK adds Sept 21st.

Eh, Eh underperformed in the markets it was released. It would flop in the US, in my opinion. I'd rather see them not releasing more singles than releasing Eh, Eh. Well, it hit as high as #2 here in Sweden (in comparison to the #3 peak of "Just Dance") so it definitely has power. I just don't think it's the right choice for US, possible as a final Hot AC-only single. As for "Paparazzi", don't stare blindly at how it "only" peaked at #4 in the UK. It had its prime when Michael Jackson had just passed away, and it was also quite eclipsed by "Evacuate The Dancefloor". Airplay has still been huge for it, and it's having great longevity within the top 10.

People are reacting to "Paparazzi" only hitting #4 in the UK, the same way people reacted when "LoveGame" only hit #5 in the USA.
There are MILLIONS of artists out there without top 5 hits in either of those countries. People need a perspective check.
Besides, I don't think anyone will ever have enough consecutive #1's to challenge Whitney's record on the Hot 100 (I may change this opinion if the 3rd BEP single also goes #1).

I think they screwed up the era by releasing "Eh, Eh" at the time they did. It should have gone something like this.
1. Just Dance (Worldwide) 2. Poker Face (Worldwide) 3. LoveGame (US, Canada, Australia) / Paparazzi (UK, Europe) 4. LoveGame (UK, Europe) / Paparazzi (US, Canada, Australia) 5. Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) (Worldwide, except the US)
And then the re-release after "Eh, Eh". I think "Eh, Eh" could be a success in most countries, minus the US, if they would just release it at the right time. Their strategy of releasing the song in a random country every so often is stupid, and it kind of messes up the era in my opinion.

If it were pa-pa-pa-poker face, fa-fa-f**k her face, would you like it more? What if you pretended to poke people in the face with your finger during that part? LOL... perhaps! Here's to 'Paparazzi' being a huge smash. Lady GaGa is here to stay, so I'm glad that I've loved two of her 4 singles so far.

A VMA performance can definitely give this song a 200k digital week. No. Considering it will basically have very little airplay at that time and downloads will always be very low, a performance wont boost sales above 200k, it'd be lucky to get 100k after a VMA performance.

All of GaGa's singles have posted impressive and consistent downloads. There's no reason to think this trend won't continue. Paparazzi is already taking off at Top 40 with more than a month to go before the VMA's hit. It could very well have substantial airplay by then.

^ But it doesn't have the adds date until September, so it probably won't have really high airplay by then.
it might, though. who knows.
