Does anybody have any charts from this era of CHR... I just cant fathom the thought of Ms. New Booty or Candy Shop being Top 10 CHR, Id have to look at a chart or something to see it.
Another question, why is it that urban music was so popular on CHR during these years?

Pop music goes through waves
1996-1999: Pop/Rock (Alanis, Jewel, Matchbox Twenty) 1999-2002: Teen Pop (Britney, Christina, BSB) 2002-2005: Hip-pop (50 Cent, Usher, Nelly) 2005-2008: Rhythmic-pop (Beyonce, Justin, Timbaland) 2008-2011: Electro-pop (Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas)
Keep in mind, just because one genre is dominate throughout those years, it doesn't mean other genres can't chart either. During the "pop/rock" era in the 90s, country was also popular on the format. During the teen pop era, adult rock was also popular on the format (Creed, Nickelback). During the Hip-pop era, pop/rock played second fiddle as well. During the Rythmic-pop era, hip pop was still getting played as well. And now, during this era, we still see small hints of country/rock.

Maybe it was the appeal and the image. The artists lost it with the pop crowd around 2005 and the music went with it too. The popular artists I remember were Lil' Jon, Nelly, Ludacris, Eminem, 50 and Ja Rule. I wouldn't limit urban music to hip hop. Don't forget about our beloved singers including Beyonce, Usher, Justin, and Alicia Keys.

^I've been looking for the same thing myself w/ limited success, Cuz I need the mediabase charts from '00 - '04. What I HAVE done is compiled a listing of charts an "where to find" charts on my website. You can browse thru it here: shad.is.dreaming.org/charts.htmlStill desperately need those early 2k charts though. I actually have the early 90s ones, just havent posted em.
