Did you guys see X-Factor? So, the last episode ended with a stupid-and-non-sense guy destroying 'Vision Of Love' and 'Hero'. They played 'Dreamlover' and 'Emotions' as well, I really liked it! But the guy was sooo funny, it's a must seen! Anyway, when all the crowd was singing 'Hero' it just made me realize, once again, Mariah's legacy in music.

Updated Info with More Production including instruments and BGVs
As promised, we have more information about Mariah's new album Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel for you. Below are running times and production details for each one of the album tracks. Most of the album was produced by the team of Mariah, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. James Wright and Crystal Johnson were the only other writers/producers involved in the album. Three songs use samples from other songs: "Candy Bling" (sample: "Back in the Day" by Ahmad, 1993), "Inseparable" (sample: "Time After Time" by Cindi Lauper, 1984) and "More Than Just Friends" (sample: "One More Chance" by The Notorious B.I.G, 1995). The album's total length is 1:20:36 (Disc 1 - 58:13, Disc 2 - 22:23).

Hey-- lemme introduce myself. I been lurking around this board for the past few weeks getting Mariah info, but thought I should start posting! I've been a fan since Daydream, and around the Mariah Online community since it began around that time. So anyways, I noticed everybody had been posting what Mariah had sent them on twitter, so I thought I'd share mine! Back in March, Mariah was asking everybody what their favorite songs were, and what we would like to see her do. I told her that I loved "babydoll" and that I would hope she would do something kinda like Aaliyah's sound in "One In A Million." And here's what she wrote back, (I've never shared this until now ) The clip of H.A.T.E. U that we've heard sounds very much in this vein.

Exciting all the news starting to come in. Looking forward to them Amazon clips. Can't be too far off now.
IWKWLI sounding better with each listen, she sounds so good. I got high hopes for the song. Hope it does big things for the album. Time will tell I guess.
Also just wanna say that I'm sorry if I've offended anyone here in the past. Hope we can start fresh.

I'm not as hyped as I thought I would be. The names are too r&b-mid-tempo-ish for me but I hope the songs themselves will be hot. Last year we had such cool titles: Migrate, I'm That Chick, Side Effects, Cruise Control. Anw I'm sure I'll like this album so I'm not worrying.

Have a lot of trolls finally been banned? The first two pages of this thread and last three of the sixth one have been the most enjoyable read I've had in a Mariah thread for a while...

Wow ok so Up Out My Face is going to be really different from the demo we heard....horns and a marching band beat? That sounds pretty awesome, and different from other stuff Mariah's done....sweet!

Trumpets, sax, marching band! This is what really got me excited. Plus, REAL percussion on "It's a Wrap"

I'm loving these production credits. Sounds like this could be her most diverse, different album to date.
Now we know why she's been so quiet. Working her ass off! Lol.
In all seriousness though, it kinda seems like she's starting to make that transition into the next phase of her career by incorporating more live sounds. Even the gospel feel. Hammond and keys? That's straight up gospel. I think she's entering a whole new era musically which is cool. Risks don't always pay off but at least she's taking them.

Only the reprise has the marching band but still...HOT. So, no choir in IWKWLI, eh? Well, the background vocals are full enough to replicate a choir.

You can never be sure what all elements of the song are taken from a song until you hear it. She may have taken a lyrical loop and then liked the groove and incorporated it someway into it. I remember Janet sampling a Diana Ross "moan" LOL You just never know what elements can wind up in the song.

I can't wait to hear "Candy Bling", but I think one of the people who described it probably grossly exaggerated saying it was her slowest song to date. This is a ballad queen. How can she get any slower than some other stuff she's done? lol

Overloaded, that's right. She doesn't need an actual choir persay to create that sound. She has the best backing vocalists in the biz. Plus she's the queen of vocal production.
Remember the massive vocal layering on her Christmas album?
Brilliance.
