I think she deserve every noms. To me the noms that matter is the VOTY. I really hope she wins that one. I could care less about the others to be honest.

Absolutely. Without a doubt. It's as close to an 'iconic' video as we get these days. I can't think of any other song which has benefited from a music video as much as this did; at least not recently. And since when are the VMA's a serious award show anyway? This. at the results.

Clearly all the Britney and Lady Gaga fans merged together for the results of this poll. Hilarious. Beyonce continues to be a huge threat.

Are you people on crack? Of course it does. Its going down in the history books of pop culture. When we look back at 2008, Single Ladies will be right up there.

I don't completely understand what was so great about the video itself. It was iconic because of the dance, but the music video isn't like, some amazing masterpiece.

I hate the VMAs cos they only care about dancing stuff so Beyonce and those who just dance in videos will surely get nominated/win. Oh come on does dancing/jumping around/smack butt related to Single Ladies' lyrics?
What about those action videos like I Do Not Hook Up? It potrays such a beautiful story and yet...?

Maybe a different music video would've been a better example. But I agree. I think it won more because of the pop culture impact. I can't say it's a fantastic video but it did stir up an insane amount of buzz, one of the rare times today where the music video was more popular than the song IMO.

The music video must reflect on the song lyrics not plainly just dancing or walking around or doing sexy moves. This is just me.

Best example of a completely irrelevant music video: "I Got It From My Mama"

The music video must reflect on the song lyrics I have to disagree. There are some great music videos that don't necessarily mirror the song lyrics. Here are two of my favorites: this and this.

The Single Ladies video is a master class of music video filmmaking. The coloring effects gave it its iconic look (no it wasn't just black & white). The amazing AMAZING camerawork, and of course the choreography goes without saying. Maybe it's just because I have some knowledge of what goes into music video production, but if you really pay attention there is a LOT more going on there than you see with even a few viewings.
