Pulse honors country music in a big way with the next category. Although not normally a big focus on Pulse’s forums, two young blonde divas, 2 power-house all-male groups and a few legends were hard to ignore this past year. The 2009 nominees for Best Country Video are…

The next performer is one of this decade’s oddest celebrity stories. She went from char-topping pop-virgin superstar to married with two kids to psychotic bald umbrella-killer…and now she’s back to the beginning…almost. With the release of Circus, our favorite star of the late-90s teen pop surge came back in a huge way. She’s nominated 6 times tonight and she’s here now to perform “Womanizer”. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Ms. Britney Spears!

OK, it is working again now. Musica es uno de los pocos idiomas UNIVERSALES!! Music in one of the few UNIVERSAL languages!!
Our own Board is a reflection of that. We have posters from the USA, Asia, Oceania, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America. We all share our PASSION for music, even if it is not in our native language. A group of us are proud of our Latin roots! SI! And we are very happy to see the increased popularity of Latin artists all over the world.
But let's remember that many years ago we already had some Spanish artists in international charts: Perez Prado with his Mambos in the 50s, Santana with his guitar jewels starting in the 70s, Mocedades with their top 10 "Eres Tu" in the late 70s, Julio Iglesias with a couple of AC hits in the early 80s (duets with Diana Ross and Willie Nelson)...
With the increasing internationalization of Latin artists, more budget came to them, too, and videos got MUCH better.
Not anymore we would see official videos based on boring TV recorded performances in "Siempre en Domingo", "Sabado Gigante", "300 Milliones" or another TV show... like this classic song from Jose Luis Perales:
Not anymore we would see horrible lipsyncs in fake scenarios with cheap clothes and makeups, such as this 80s bubble gum Latin Pop gem.
Now Latin music and production is more varied... with different influences, but always with that special SABOR LATINO (Latin flavor) that makes them unmistakable, uniquely LATIN VIDEOS.
These are the nominees for Best Latin/Spanish Video:
Beautiful (Spanglish), Akon & Dulce Maria Caribbean roots and Mexican heritage joined here for a popular English song, but with more Latin flavor in this Spanglish version.
Pose, Daddy Yankee The most important Reggaeton artist, he infused more electro and hip-hop rhythms to his Reggaeton style for his more recent album. Pose showcases that mix in a great dance video.
Tu No Eres Para Mi, Fanny Lu From Colombia, Fanny Lu gets sexier than ever, in a full Latin Pop song, with mix of vallenato and banda, plus a funny video with cool choreography
Loba, Shakira The most important Latin artist of this century, Shakira came back transformed into a Loba, moving her body like no other. Some disco and electro music, but with lyrics easily identifiable as written by Shakira
El Regalo Mas Grande, Tiziano Ferro, Dulce Maria & Anahi One of the most talented Italian acts of the past decade, with an emotional video for a poignant ballad, Italian style. Dulce & Anahi "try" to sing with him, but fail in the attempt, but well, there are a couple of other versions to check online too
Mediocre, Ximena Sariana Revelation Mexican singer. She was the villain of a kids soap opera. Now she has grown up. And although not a villain, not the typical mainstream artist either. Very interesting twist for an artist raised in the most bubble gum environment for any artist: the multimillionaire enterprise of Televisa. This song could be sung by an independent artist as well!
Very different styles... all Latin... only ONE Winner!!

Shaki is definitely known for her different types of moves now: hips, abs, shoulders, etc. So, there couldn't be a best way to make a transition to the next performance, in memory of the one of the best entertainers of all time who passed away some weeks ago. His legacy is humongous. Here it is a very special performance:
The SUPRISE Tribute to Michael Jackson

For all of us who LOVE to dance, there is no place where a dance routine cannot be performed!! From the bathroom to a metro station to the top of a mountain. There is always a good excuse to shake our bodies and go with the flow of a good dance song! And the nominees of Best Choreography in a Video show just that! Crcus - Here Britney dance with elephants, clowns and maybe a donkeyi!! All about having fun! Going On - reminding of our basic human roots and instincts, rooted to the African beats by Gnarls Barkley Hot 'N Cold - the indecission of a soon-to-be husband makes the best men and other invitees start to dance with Katy Perry Jai Ho - an Indian train station or market are also good excuses for Ho-zinger to start shaking her booty... I meant, the Pussies! Lovegame - Lady Gaga doesn't waste a second and she goes dancing on the metro, makes out with a guard and gets all dirty with a couple of hot men, all with good choreograhphy Single Ladies - everyone and their moms followed the dance class that Beyonce made with this simple but effective video, ala old style

During the past 12 months, many great pop music videos have been made, but the Top 6 are the best of the best. 4 of them went number on on the Hot 100, 1 peaked at #3 and the other sadly didn't make it in, but that doesn't mean much in this industry. I Gotta Feeling She Loves Everybody's Poker Face whether they're Womanizers or Hot N' Cold or simply "Viviendo La Vida". Here are the nominees for Best Pop Video...

You can spot a good video the first time you see it, and the cinematography has a lot to do with it. Best cinematography is awarded to the music video that you can not take your eyes away from! The lighting, the color and everything else must also be perfect. Check out these nominees...
