This song sounds like MJ recorded it after he died. What a snoozefest. I tried I really tried to like it but I couldn't make it past the first 30 seconds. This is definitely a GRIFT (swindle) by SONY records. "Sony has rights to release any music Mr. Jackson recorded while under contract. But since there could be as many as two albums’ worth of material made after that deal expired, around five years ago, other labels may also be able to cut deals, and the Jackson estate has held talks with Universal about those recordings, according to people familiar with the discussions but not authorized to speak publicly." According to the NY Times SONY didn't have the rights to Michael's new music which is why they had to use an old 1980's song as a new song.

What a mess. Im expecting a "just kidding, the new single is actually coming out later, this was just a tease" from Michael's people.

What a mess. Im expecting a "just kidding, the new single is actually coming out later, this was just a tease" from Michael's people. That's what they'll have to say when the song flops. Suddenly they will be calling it a 'buzz single' or 'gift to the fans.'

The Orchestra versions of this song sound a little better (like 0.01% better), but the 'orchestra' doesn't sound epic or good. It feels like they added it in and made it fit even though it doesn't.

I agree that the orchestra versions are a bit better, but not by much. This whole thing is a sham, really.
BTW, MJ just got a crapload of posthumous AMA nominations today.

Oh god, this whole project is awful enough without Mariah Carey's screams voice. If there are any recordings they did together, it probably would be from a number of years ago.

Very Disapointing single..... It's not a real single. It's a demo of a discarded track by MJ. He would be upset that this is being released.

Im sure Michael would be upset at this being released.
SONY IS PATHETIC! Disrespecting him like that, this single is a bunch of *dog feces*.
This is nothing but a low-class attempt at drawing in a few bucks off of his death, Sony should be ashamed.... assholes.

What's scary is that when they announced this morning that Paul Anka would get all his credit and royalties, the Jackson camp said they gave Sony 50 songs and this is the one they chose and thought was the "best." Yikes!

Michael wouldn't have released this if he were alive.
It would be an album track - not the main attraction on an album.

This isn't as good as anything on his other solo albums. I don't think it owuld've EVER been on a MJ album if MJ was alive. In any case.... Reuters is saying that this song was a mistake. Here

Several MJ albums have their share of filler, especially his last few. This is ineffably bland, but I've definitely heard some worse stuff on albums like History, Invincible and all his pre Off the Wall albums.

The improper handling of this single release is making me fear the quality of the documentary that goes with it. It just seems like its all being rushed now for the buck.

This is far and away worse than anything he's ever recorded. I'm sorry but it is. Even that song Cry is better than this and I thought that was his worst song until I heard this one. They strangely sound similar..... www.this-is-not-it.com/

Everything is going to be subpar (to us).

That never got an official release so....

The only reason this was released is because of the title. Case closed. It's obvious MJ never intended to release this since the quality of the recording sounds like a demo.
With that said, I'm sure there is *plenty* of good stuff in the vault and it will be released slowly as the years go by.
And yes Adonis, I think "Hold My Hand" is a lot better than this.
IMO, they should have cut out Akon's vocal and released an "MJ only" mix of the track (that is if one exists). Maybe radio might not have been as excited since "Hold My Hand" has been available on the internet for quite some time, but I do think MJ would have liked one of his finished unreleased works to be released as his first posthumous single instead of this.

^Is that good? I'm really pissed at Sony for not releasing this to I-tunes. It was a guaranteed #1 and we could have had 2 back-to-back #1 debuts for the first time ever.
Ridiculous. f**kin money hungry whores.

Well it's not terrible. The song is definitely in the Mediabase Top 100 somewhere, but it's got a ways to go if it wants to break top 50, which I don't think it will. This is reminding me of "Million Dollar Bill"'s performance.
