Exclusive: Ciara Readies New Album Ciara has been laying low as of late, but for good reason. The R&B singer is well into recording her fourth album and we’ve got the exclusive details. Christopher “Tricky” Stewart and his songwriting partner The-Dream have been secretly spending the summer in the studio producing the entire follow-up to Ciara’s Fantasy Ride. Stewart broke the news to Rap-Up.com in an exclusive interview. “We’re doing the whole project,” he reveals. “We’re pretty good into it at this point. We’re about 14 songs deep right now.” The 23-year-old ATLien relocated to the West Coast to work on the album with Tricky and Dream, who crafted “High Price” and “Like a Surgeon” off this year’s Fantasy Ride. “She came out to L.A. to work with us. We’re out here making this record ’cause it feels good and the vibe is good,” says the Grammy-winning producer. The as-yet-untitled effort will feature danceable tracks that have become Ciara’s signature. “This record obviously is gonna have tempo to it, but I think it’s gonna have even more substance than the last record,” Tricky discloses. “She dances and we always want to bring out what she does that other people don’t.” Although Fantasy Ride boasted collaborations with a who’s who of the industry including Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, and Ludacris, the “Love Sex Magic” singer will be riding solo this time. “This album we wanted to take a few steps back and make it more about her, so the only feature is Dream. But the features that we do on this record will be remixes.” The hitmaker even shared a couple song titles with Rap-Up.com. “I love ‘Speechless.’ I love this record called ‘Gifted.’ Those are two of my favorites. ‘Speechless’ is the record with her and Dream together.” While there’s still the possibility of a release by the end of the year, it’s looking like 2010 will mark Super C’s return. “It’s a little up in the air, but there’s a chance that it might come this year. That was the goal, but at the same time, we didn’t want to rush anything. I think it’s looking more like a next year thing.” Ciara is pulling out all the stops to make this her best work yet. “Right now, she’s on her grind, coming back, trying to make a better album than she made last time and get back to that mark where everybody knew that she was in the top tier of the female business.” www.rap-up.com/2009/09/28/exclusive-ciara-readies-new-album/

I hope it doesn't come out this year, it'd look messy to release two albums in one year. Next year would be smarter. If she flops with this one again, I'm afraid that'll be the end of Super C.
She better bring the heat with the lead single, no more lackluster singles.

That's a very smart move to not have features on this album. Features make it seem like an artist has to depend on another artist to make their song hot or get radio airplay.
Ciara had way too many features on "Fantasy Ride." So it's good that she is going to do her fourth studio album solo.

This will be interesting to see how her singles play out with just her. I don't think Ciara has been able to get a real SMASH without having a rent-a-rapper to tag along.

Promise was an urban smash, so I guess we'll see. I'm just glad Tricky said Tempo & bringing out what she does that others don't!

No features this time round? Not even for lead? I dunno bout that. If she's not having them for her album then I'd recommend at least doing hot features on other people's albums before she jumps back in the game. She ought to still have enough industry friends to make it work. Run This Town would have done wonders for her, for instance.

I don't think Ciara has been able to get a real SMASH without having a rent-a-rapper to tag along. This is going to be Ciara's FOURTH studio album. So she is going to have to do things differently than her previous albums. That means no features on her FOURTH studio album. And it means that she has to be the headliner on a tour and not the opening act.

She can ride solo...i think he's speaking like something similar to "Ego" as far as remixes or what Mariah used to do.

Yeah...i mean she's Co headlined with TI and had the mini evolution tour before that album which to me really helped with the 1st week sales. Ciara can't headline arena's right now coming off a major letdown of an album from a "selling" standpoint. She needs radio hits/selling power this time before a tour. I'm glad people will also have confirmation of why she's not on the Circus tour right now as well. This is more important for her at this point to really stay out there like she has and then come back a new album. I really do want her to try to get it out before Christmas.

No more features! It would be great to see her go solo (just like Promise and Like A Boy). I'm sure The Dream will do something great with her, although his voice is awful and "Lovers Thing" is a bore.

"Lover's Thing" is the only track off Fantasy Ride that I completely do not remember at all.

The sequence of Fantasy Ride enabled "Lover's Thing" to overshadow the far superior "Keep Dancin' On Me." That entire situation was just unfortunate. The as-yet-untitled effort will feature danceable tracks that have become Ciara’s signature. “This record obviously is gonna have tempo to it, but I think it’s gonna have even more substance than the last record,” Tricky discloses. “She dances and we always want to bring out what she does that other people don’t.” Oooh, sounds promising. Tricky Stewart & The-Dream make an incomparable pair that capture an element rarely found in pop music today.

This article is so promising. She's going back to her more URBAN-leaning sound, she's not making the focus on a bunch of features, she's working with two of the best producers/writers in the game, and the best thing... UPTEMPO sounds like a big majority.
All sounds REALLY good if you ask me. It's also good she didn't sit down somewhere and wait for nothing... Keri Hilson made a semi-blow up this year and Rihanna is making a comeback album this year/2010, she shouldn't wait around with stuff like that happening.

Ciara doesn't need a rent-a-rapper. She needs QUALITY music. How do you think "Never Ever" did FAR better than "Go Girl", which had a bigger "rent-a-rapper"? It did better because it was a better song. It's not always about featurings with everybody, and Ciara has learned that from "Fantasy Ride" era. It's time to take a STAND for herself.

That would of definitely did wonders for her, she would have been a force again. However, she would have been like a baby on the hook, compared to the grit, raw, and edginess of Rihanna's vocals. Ciara would have been too sweet and sugar, at least IMO, I havent really heard her do an IN YOUR FACE mean hard song. "Oh" is definitely not that. As for features on other people's songs, I dont know why she wont do that... if she teamed up and did a song with Drake, it could be a perfect duet!!! Their style of singing is pretty similar, more of a humming, holding a note type of singing and not blasting out, their vocals would compliment each other so well.

I don't think the softness in her voice on most of Fantasy Ride was well suited for some songs. Ciara is my girl, but make your PRESENCE be felt on a track. Don't half-step or sleep walk through it. Be commanding with that voice, you don't have to belt, just wake us up!

The only way Ciara is going to make a real comeback is if she pulls out all the stops. She needs that lead single to be HOT & UPTEMPO, crazy video, and she's going to need to promote it anyway she can. Honestly, in my opinion, the only way she can really make this a success is all up to the lead single choice and how she handles it.

I've never heard Goodies but Fantasy Ride is superior to The Evolution.

Was herlast album bad musically? I think "Fantasy Ride" is her best album. The album had a lot of potential singles.
