It means that if the Billboard Hot 100 ran past 100 spots Britney would be number 114 with just a week of airplay under her belt.

No, download week ends Sunday. So that would be, what, 24 hours before 3 came out? First day of downloads are usually quite brisk.
So yes the first download day counts towards next week.
#1 debuts: American Idol first singles (4 in mid-00's) & songs that had big airplay but weren't allowed to chart until they were sold. If airplay-only singles did count at the time, they totally would have debuted earlier. (11 in the late 90's)

Yeah I'm thinking that Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" debuted at #1. i found this about this song With the release of the single, the song broke The Beatles' record for the biggest leap ever to number one, from 52, in the history of the Hot 100 Chart, a record that would stand for five years. She would break the record again when her new song "My Life Would Suck Without You" jumped 96 spots from 97 to 1 in 2009.

She'll be the first non-American idol artist to debut at #1 in more then 10 years.

Like I said, it'd be the first #1 debut ever that's not either an American Idol first single (That's important, the first part; that single's success relies on Idol. Subsequent singles have to rely on the artist.) or a song that had big airplay but wasn't allowed to chart until physically released. If airplay-only singles did count at the time, they totally would have debuted earlier.

Oh ok. I thought it just debuted at #1.
What other Idol singles are you guys talking about then that just debuted at #1 and didn't take a jump up the charts.
Fantasia's "I Believe"?

Kelly's actually debuted at #52 then jumped to #1, breaking the record for biggest jump. Then Britney broke it with Womanizer going #96-#1, then Kelly broke that with My Life Would Suck Without You going #97-#1. It'd be fun to see this go back and forth until one of them gets that #100-#1 :)

I hope she can keep up her massive lead for at least one more day, then through out the weekend they can slowly creep up back on her but I still want her lead to be sizable come Sunday.
