People decide what they want to hear on radio or is it the other way around? I get the impression it's more the latter than the former! was that the case with all of her hits from GGGB? If RR was smashing i doubt this post would exist. She is having a hit with 'hard' can we just admit that it underperformed because the general public doesn't enjoy the song. It's not a flop...yet not a huge hit.

I think this board just isn't a fan of Rihanna. Which explains why GGGB has won every poll it has ever been in. ???

Performing RR and Hard probably would've been a better move, but maybe they just wanna completely move on to Hard at this point. It seems like her performance got a pretty good reception overall despite the negative feedback on this board. Most articles called it one of the highlights of the night and the people I talked to really enjoyed it. I think this board just isn't a fan of Rihanna. As for the Kelly comparisons....RR and Never Again are comparable, the difference is Kelly didn't have another song that was smashing on two other formats and looking like it was about to smash on CHR on the contrary, i think that there are many fans of rihanna on this board...just not alot of stans. If people are not feeling the song or her performance it is okay. She's not known as a performer and Hard is doing well. Excuses shame shame shame. I know, I'm just saying I was surprised at how well-recieved this was outside of this board. I haven't even seen the performance but the reviews of it were terrible here so I assumed it sucked, but it seemed like a lot of people liked it.

I think here are smashes on this album, they just AREN'T Disturbia and Don't Stop The Music.
If this take off, urban rock could be the new pop rock of the 'teens'.

I think this is a really strong album, but people who were expecting Good Girl Gone Bad Part II will be disappointed.
Like people have said, this really does remind me a lot of the Breakaway/My December situation - both were coming off of a breakthrough smash album and a lot of people were expecting their next album to be a carbon copy of the previous one, and were disappointed to find out they were quite different. Both were darker and more personal as well. The difference is this album is much more radio-friendly than My December was and will probably be a lot more successful. It's also IMO a better album.

Regardless my point is that people don't "hate" Rihanna just because they don't like urban Rihanna. People may just like pop Rihanna more.

She just lost me as a fan!! Poor Riri! there go the dramatics again. I mean, I totally see why someone doesn't like Rihanna's performances, but i don't see how this performance could be the reason you stopped being a fan. It's no better or worse than what she's been doing for the past 2 years. so i don't exactly get that...lol

I liked the performance. Sure it wasn't OHMYGUSHSOAMAZING, but it was nice and I liked the selection of songs. There's no need to promote this one if it's already over on radio. Just let it die and move on fast.

Stage pressense has improved.
Theatrics on stage has improved.
Movement on stage has improved.
But her voice... Her voice for much of the last album (minus Disturbia) and her previous efforts, sounded fine when she would sing her songs. It wasn't strong but she didn't sound pitchy/out of tune. With her improved confidence, has come this urge from Riri to over sing her musis. Maybe I just didn't see enough of her live and maybe she has always been like this?

Here's a cool remix I found. I love the added synths.

I'm not surprised by the quick halt of this. I've said it! The song is just not good! And that is what it is!
ETA: Def Jam; island is one of the worst labels when it comes to picking singles for an album, with the exception of a few really great choices. I don't know how the hell they thought this was a great choice!

It has done well in other countries. One of her best IMO. Love it's mood and the video is beyond awesome.

How did Russian Roulette chart in the UK? I think given the singles do well, this should do okay. She will be on X Factor in a week. I DO hope it can make top ten this week.
And Dirty Pop!, that gif of Brits dancing, is that recent!?

Russian Roulette is currently #4 on UK iTunes so it looks like it will eventually be a top 5 hit.

I guess you mean Russian Roulette chart positions? They're iTunes positions not titled correctly and quite misleading.

It's four dollars on amazon (along with Adam's) this week. You can use a $3 promotional credit Amazon (which can be used towards anything) is running right now to get it for $1.

Not exactly, for a few days on Amazon this album is on sale for $3.99, which is also being done for Adam Lambert's CD, and in the past with Mariah Jay-Z and many others. It is just that there is a code for any songs that gives you $3 for free towards any mp3s, and they're saying if you use it towards Rated R you could get it for $0.99
