Is it true when you buy multiple copies of an album at one time, it only counts as one album sold?
Like say if I bought 3 of the same album at one time. Does it count as 1 copy since its the same or they count them as 3 seperately?
I know it may seem like a dumb question, but some are saying that's the case and others are saying it's not. Can someone who knows the answer please help me out. I would really appreciate it

Supposedly if they are rung up as part of once purchase it's only counted as one copy, while if you purchase them separately, i.e. on different receipts, they count each copy.

I'm assuming this is in relation to how SoundScan will track your purchase?
It depends on how many copies. If you're buying three copies of one album, then that number is small enough that you won't trigger anything. SoundScan will process that as three copies sold. If you buy a particularly large number, SoundScan will read that as an anomaly and throw out your purchase entirely from its tracking. If you're buying a number of any given album in quantities large enough to trigger that, I'd like to recommend sending some of your large amounts of disposable income my way.

No, Basically when you buy three albums and the cashier scans them up, the stock machine deducts this number so therefore the machine then places orders with manufacture when stock is getting low. So if you buy three copies it's counted as three copies sold.
