How did Timbaland have the #1, #4 and #24 songs of the decade but didn't make the top 10 artists?

Apologize is one of the worst number one singles this decade. The song is just horrible.
OneRepublic's new single (well, I'm not sure if it's really new) "All the Right Moves" is much better.

She also proves that longevity and consistency overpower buzz and starlet of the hour honours.
5th biggest grosing tour of 2009 too. Proud of her and so good to be her fan.

How did Timbaland have the #1, #4 and #24 songs of the decade but didn't make the top 10 artists? Probably because those 3 along with Give It To Me are his only real hits. Where as Avril, who is #10, had 4 #1's along with a few other hits. It does look weird though when you look at it.

Here's a year-by-year breakdown of the top 50. Songs are counted towards the year in which they reached their peak position. Definitely, a heavier lean towards the second half of the decade. 2006 makes the largest contribution with ten songs.
2000 (2) Kryptonite With Arms Wide Open
2001 (3) Hanging By A Moment I’m Real Get The Party Started
2002 (3) How You Remind Me Complicated In The End
2003 (3) Here Without You Where Is The Love? Hey Ya!
2004 (4) Yeah! The Reason Over And Over This Love
2005 (5) Since U Been Gone Because Of You Run It! Behind These Hazel Eyes We Belong Together
2006 (10) Far Away Promiscuous Unwritten Hips Don’t Lie My Love Irreplaceable Check On It Lips Of An Angel Stickwitu SexyBack
2007 (5) Apologize The Way I Are Big Girls Don’t Cry (Personal) Say It Right U And Ur Hand
2008 (9) Low Leavin’ Bleeding Love Hot ‘N Cold Forever So What No One Take A Bow No Air
2009 (6) Gives You Hell Just Dance I Gotta Feeling Poker Face You Belong With Me Boom Boom Pow

Lot's of negativity about "Apologize" finishing at #1. Though, you really can't deny the fact that it got the airplay to earn it. Looking back at my Mediabase archives, the song had 6 consecutive weeks with 10,000+ spins. I don't think any other song this decade came close to getting that kind of play.

"Apologize" definitely deserves #1. That song is amazing and one of the best songs of the decade, no doubt about it. People here are just mad that the #1 spot is not by a female singer

Of that entire top 50, I would only consider 12 of them to be any good.

I don't think this was a terrible decade for music at all but this list sure doesn't show that There were a lot of really great songs this decade...most of them just aren't here, lol. And Apologize totally deserves #1. It was one of the biggest songs of the decade, no doubt, and it's an excellent song, IMO.

Interesting because neither Since U Been Gone and I think Apologize both never hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
