Damita Ho happened while Janhovah was being tempted in the desert. But She overcame the weakness and the heavens sent 20 Y.0. then she was crucified and died (discipline LOL), but She will ressurect!

"Make Me" re-charted at a new peak of #71 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Charts...out-peaking her last chart entry "Can't B Good". The song that "Make Me" samples (I had a feeling it was sampled...but it sound so good and original at the same time).

Nice to see "Make Me" out-peak CBG on the R&B chart. I'd love to see it crack the Top 50.

^Urban AC is the only outlet for acts like Janet and Whitney Houston to get a fair shot at airplay in the USA. "R&B Junkie" cracked top 20 at Urban AC; "Make Me" has that similar vibe to it.
Number Ones probably sold around 7,500 or so this week (#159 did around 5K).

Ugh, I think having MM at radio will conflict with the new single that gets released in the spring.

^ that's why I don't think we'll get a new single that soon, unless they are planning to maybe just push make me on Uac and new material on other formats.

"Make Me" looks like it will just go for official play at Urban AC. I'm sure A&M will push the lead single from the new album at various formats, no matter that pop and rhythmic likely won't be giving it a ton of play, no matter how good the track is.

^Probably true regarding airplay. I just hope the music is HOT. Janet seems fired up these days, so I'm hoping we have a great year in store.

There won't be any conflict...the promo for "Number Ones" seems finished (it's a greatest hits after all, it'll sell on it's own over time), so Janet must still be recording and getting herself prepared for the released of WDIGM2.
Let "Make Me" keep doing whatever it's doing (from website streaming to video release to performances to finally an adds date) and the rest will follow. Everything happens in STEPS!! I won't focus on the future, I'll anticipate t, but enjoy the present. :)
Right now it seems the "steps" are... 1) "Number Ones" and "Make Me" 2) "Why Did I Get Married Too?" 3) New single, new album 4) Everything else.

Well R&B usually plays Janet....and R&B radio is usually more willing to play songs from R&B artists regardless of age. I doubt Pop/CHR plays it....even though they did play "Feedback" to an extent.

janet should play her chips on urban. they would be willing to play her. then when it was exploding on this format *WISHFUL THINKING ALERT*, maybe pop would receive it well...
AND THEN, when she broke the taboo, she'd record a pop song.
either ways, talking about WDIGMT, that reminds me i watched the worst movie in my life (Couples Retreat)
such a rip-off of WDIGM, but with white cast. they even got tasha smith. suckers. I HATED THAT POO-POO-ASS-MOVIE

I didn't even realize that LOL...Couples Retreat being a blatant rip off.
But sadly one movie was successful, the other was not.

i can only hope for the best for the new single. pry for CHR/POP & Rhy. play lots of it. they're the formats that truly sells records. but it would be great for Urban & Urban AC keep showing Janet love.

Urban has and will always support Janet if what Janet puts out can be played on the radio.

When's the last time a Janet single couldn't be played on the radio? It's not like she has released much in the way of non-radio-friendly material, whether at one major format or another.
"Make Me" is a radio-friendly track, but even if it went for official play, it likely would not get a heckuva lot of play. Look at "Feedback"- #64 Hot 100 Airplay peak (with just a few weeks on the chart). And, "Feedback" didn't do nearly as well at urban as a track like "Call on Me" (and it's not like that track was super-urban-sounding, with its "Dilemma" influence).
So I got Number Ones, but haven't listened it. I've read that "I Get Lonely" is the solo version- so, is the back of the CD a typo when it says "featuring BLACKStreet"?

"Call on me" is much more urban than "feedback." She loses the urban audience with a song like Feedback.

Pop radio is ageist so they aren't going to play Janet. Urban radio doesn't discriminate. Therefore Janet's next handful of singles should have some type of Urban flare to it so that she'll get some airplay.
There has and will always be an interest in Janet, she just needs to bring it.

What I meant was, is that "Call on Me" isn't hip-hop or the kind of track that SCREAM urban, yet it made it to #1 on the urban chart. It also was poppy (like "Dilemma" was), yet it didn't crack the top 30 at pop.
TABow, there wasn't all that much interest in the first two albums, but starting with Control, I'd agree. :) She will not have an easy time at pop or rhythmic, but I agree that with the right track, she can do decently at mainstream urban (as she did with "Call on Me"- I didn't love the track, but no denying it did great at urban radio).

The Urban market did enjoy Janet Jackson and Dream Street....hence her scoring two top ten hits on R&B; Young Love and Don't Stand Another Chance.

I was speaking a general interest, meaning across various formats. I didn't forget that she scored a couple top 10 hits on the R&B chart with the first two albums- plus #15 with "Say You Do." :)

I always wondered if it was time for the "Janet Jackson" album to be certified gold. It's got to be pretty darn close, by now.....

RE the liner notes- "Pop Airplay" would refer to Mainstream Top 40. But what is "Mainstream chart," exactly? That's listed for "Because of Love" and "Runaway"- they peaked at Nos. 4 and 6 on Mainstream Top 40/Pop Songs. And on what pop chart did "Scream' hit #1? "Pop" represents Hot 100 for the tracks that say "#1 Pop." It also has "Any Time, Any Place" as #1 Pop Airplay- I don't recall off-hand if it hit #1 on Hot 100 Airplay?
Did they just take creative license when listign some of the information? :)

"Scream" hit #1 on dance, I think. And probably some other worldwide chart.... but not sure.
