I thought of that, too. But, really- signing Ms. Lopez is supposed to be break the streak of disappointing sales? Oh boy.

I don't think it has been confirmed that the remix album was shelved. I'm surprised that so many fans are against it being released. I don't think the clips are that bad.

It's funny how he picks up these borderline irrelevant artists (Janet, J. Lo) only to drop them again or them to sign with someone else.

Well, Island picked up Mimi after Glitter, and she rebounded big-time one album later. Difference was, though, that Mimi still was in her mid-30s at the time.

A rollercoaster ride it was. But even the younger artists are struggling. I hate to place all the blame on LA Reid though.

Agreed. When an act suffers commercially, fans like to lay all the blame on the label and such, but more than likely, all involved are to blame, for one reason or another.

I wish she would just shelve it because I don't hear anything that is going to be a smash for her. I just want to quietly move on and come back swinging with a new cd in a year or so.

I've bought this whole "do not blame LA Reid for everything" war, but only a few lambs are willing to admit that Mariah herself has her share of blame on what goes wrong.

She is to blame for NOTHING that has happened with her last two albums. I can't believe people don't understand that. She is PERRRRFECT!! GET IT? LIVE WITH IT. ;) ha, ha. Kidding. I'm with both of you, guys. R.enato! Haven't seen you in a while here! Maybe somehow I've been missing your posts, but used to see you all the time everywhere months ago. Anyway, good to read you. Hey! Tell us what's the deal with Mariah and Brazil these days! Is it really like the BIGGEST SONG EVER!! You know, like a phenomenon everybody is singing and talking about!?!

I've been too busy because of work lately but I'm slowly coming back. :) And I kinda can't stand I Want To Know What Love Is anymore because it's playing all the time on radio, like everywhere you go! It's amazing how huge this song has gotten here. And yet no touring here. Exactly. Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel was a great album (strictly speaking quality), but it housed no huge hits. There wasn't a song on the album that would have pushed this album to the million mark in my opinion. It was pretty clear, from the start (regardless of what could have been released or should have been released), that the album wasn't going to be some huge monster success. If she's content with making quality albums that don't churn out hits she should continue making albums like this. However, I don't see why she couldn't produce an album that is high quality and contains a few commercial knock-outs (cue Emancipation). If she wants a better return (commercially speaking) with the next era, she better bring out the blockbuster hooks. Yep, that's an excellent point as well (about the lack of a monster hit). "Obsessed" was always bound to be the biggest hit off the album. Nothing else was 'smashing' material. Not to say it wasn't good, but it's not the sort of material that sells an album passed a million units. That said, they could have made smarter single choices which would have likely performed better on certain formats (like Urban and Rhythmic which are essentially the two formats this album catered to most) and could have pushed the album sales a bit higher. Not a huge difference though. It is what it is.

What is she going to gross for her 22+ date tour? I'm thinking $10mil but that is just a guess. Some of her numbers are anemic.

Drop the unnecessary attitude and then maybe I'll give you my opinion. I think that's funny considering you give off more attitude than nearly anyone else on this board. Besides I do not care if you care to elaborate or not I just figured that you would back up your statement with some examples. oh well

Where is everyone "hearing" this? The only place I have seen anything about the album being shelved is on this thread.

and what would you mr. know it all suggest that mariah has done wrong. Please enlighten me How about you enlighten us as to what she has done right recently? She has made two quality albums ( E-MC2 and Memoirs) that have each contained several potential multi-format hits. Are there areas where she has been lacking? Yes. But it's not my job to tell Mariah Carey what she needs to be doing with her career.

You posted something without elaborating so I asked if you could enlightmen me. I dont see what the big deal is unless you were just posting out of you a$#. It's funny that you have no issue calling out other posters but when someone calls out one of your posts you get defensive and bitchy. You're so predicatable.
