I'm sure a re-release would cost a lot of money, might as well spend that on a new album. Re-releases are actually really cheap compared to new albums. I think that is partially why various types of re-releases have been so popular lately-from huge big flashy re-releases to quieter "deluxe" ones. That being said, I am ok with this era being done. It is perfect as it is now-I like the single sequences, the extra videos, etc. I wouldn't like it if they tacked on an obvious radio friendly pop song and re-released it. Bring on new Rihanna!

No it is not safe to say that she's the biggest female there, that would remain Mariah, even tho her album only went gold, but Mariahs last effort was even less mainstream than Rihanna's. Mariahs next album will be huge, this album was more of a fans album which was great. So basically Rihanna has sold 3 million ww? I think she should go with a rerelease, but i think they are just going to go with another album. Mariah is hardly the biggest female in the game (that would be Jelly Clarkson...har har har) - no, but seriously, she's not.

There's some major speculation that a single's gonna drop Sept. 7th.

I just don't see that happening. It's too soon. I still listen to Rated R daily.

I honestly don't think it's too soon, as Rihanna is an artist who seems to remain unaffected by overexposure. If her string of singles from 2008 to 2009 didn't affect her, I doubt her recent string of releases would lead to any problems. In general, I think it's just best to strike while the iron is hot. Also, Rihanna tends to release material more frequently than most other artists (so I wouldn't find a September release too unusual).

I don't thin it's a problem of RihRih burning out, but just the fact that there's still a tour going on and there hasn't been a time span, even if very short, for the transition. We'll see what happens. I somehow expect the new single by February next year at most, but not as early as next month :)

Ideal Tracklist 1. Pop Anthem (Prod. By Brian Kennedy) 2. Dance Track (Prod. By David Guetta) 3. Pop Track (Prod. By Evan & Carl) 4. Ballad (Prod. by Brian Kennedy) 5. Hiphop Track (Feat Jay-Z) (Prod. by Tricky Stewart) 6. Island Track (Prod. by Stargate) 7. Pop Track (Prod. by Stargate) 8. Midtempo R&B 9. Hiphop Track (Prod. by Tricky Stewart) 10. Pop Track (Prod. by Will.I.Am) 11. Futuristic Electro Ballad (Prod. by Brian Kennedy) 12. Insightful Ballad Themes would be similar to GGGB, lots of variety but also more personable like Rated R. I like it. Im not so sure about those producers though. Because Rihanna + Stargate = magic. Im sure they would lend a helping hand in the album. Also believe that Ne-Yo will be writing a track or two. sean garrett will be helping and David Guetta will might have a track. With that said im sure the album as Rihanna says it will be "Sassy".

Rihanna's new tattoo "rebelle Fleur" is soo hott. It means Rebel Flower in English. Could this be a clue to the new era. Or perhaps new album title?

It would be similar to Rated Ryeah. And she said she wants upbeat pop records again like GGGB with a rated R edge so i think Rebel Flower sounds fitting. Shes sweet like a flower but a bad girl at the same time.

when do you think the 1st single is gonna be released? I wonder if its actually a re release of rated R? I fear it isnt because im ready for new Rihanna and I dont want her to be competing this spring with gaga. I also heard that gaGa is dropping 2 albums so that is over exposure already. Hopefully 1st single this October. Album in December. I want her to have that big Christmas sales week. preferably 2 weeks before.

It better not be a re-release. The album is still doing ok on the BB200,RS101 has a new peak on the Hot 100,I think its time for a new album.

Adding extra additives is unnecessary its well preserved. (im watching the "Food" channel). New Album December 14th hopefully lol.

Yesss. Cook it uppp lmao. Im just praying for this era to blow over. Even though it didnt gone the way I had planned. it still panned out well for her. she had one of the biggest hits of the year in the states and the biggest hit worldwide of 2010 so far. Thats an accomplishment. After seeing the way Russian Roulette died on radio and the charts I thought this new look and image was gonna be dismal but a true RiRi fan never gives up. After I saw the hard video I regained hope.

Yes,3 Top 10 from an "underperforming" album should say something. Its almost at a million, which is fine for Ri.

I can't wait for the new album but I'm sad to see that she missed out on 3 potential US hits on Rated R (Te Amo, Fire Bomb, Photographs). She could still sell 2 million without a re-release if those songs were released. :(

Idk how and when her next era is gonna start because she starts filming for her movie in a week and her tour as been extended to 2011. Its now ending in March 2011 in Australia. I guess she could make time in between October - February but I will figure she wil use that time period to fine tune the album and revamp her image. I wouldnt be surprised if we get the new album April/May 2011

So, Rated R finished with about 2.5 million WW. Really great considering she only had about 1 super hit and 1 hit (Hard in US, Russian Roulette WW) Filming begins in the upcoming weeks but her part likely isn't gonna start the same day. Contrary to outlet reports, her part is pretty minimal. The recording process has been going on since February for the next project. Throughout her tour in the US she has been recording multiple times a week. When an artist like Rihanna (or Beyonce, Britney, etc) comes into the studio - she's there to record finished pre-choosen songs. Any of her involvement in the song and the actual production/lyrics were finished sometimes months in advance. The amount of time she spends in the studio is irrelevant to measuring how prepared or fine-tuned the album is. The album will release this year, they're set on it

I just hope they don't try to cram everything into a month like they did with Rated R.

I just hope they don't try to cram everything into a month like they did with Rated R. ditto. It needs time. She needs a good 2 month between the first single and the album. That way she can gain momentum.

Two months is a little too long. A month and two weeks between the single release and the album release should be fine. Actually, I think the strategy they used with "Rated R" would have been fine had they released a radio friendly single. I don't think they should set a definite date until they see how the single is doing.
People at her label still insist that the single is coming next month, so I guess they're shooting for another November release date?
Either way, I'm shocked but glad that the album has sold 950K in the US. She had two singles that completely bombed at radio and half of the promotion as her previous albums. Good for her.
