I'm not worried about the lyrics. It's the music that worries me, and his singing. Very 80s, very loud and very camp. It's so different compared to what's popular now. And not just in the US.
Gonna be exciting to see if it can break through.

I've been done with middle america for twenty eight years lol. The "loud and proud" songs apparently won't make it here--Adam's said that the single "he" in "Fever" makes that song impossible to release here, which is INSANE, as that song is far more radio friendly than IIHY, which doesn't mention a "he" as a love/sex interest.

Were all done with Middle America. Whats funny is, most of Middle America is probably done with Middle America. However, those mis-conceptions are so strong people still live by them. Sucks. Whatever. I just dont know if this is the best single. I guess we will see.
While its one of my least favorite, Aftermath probably would have done better in those markets.
However, fingers crossed. Ive seen crazier things smash and become mega hits that I thought were crap (talking about you Kesha/TikTok).

Hopefully they've tested with the PDs this time. And Adam's got radio gigs booked, that will at least get him some spins. It is a fun song (trying to be optimistic) Although I don't know what else will work best next anyway. Fever is the best song, but we know about that. And Sleepwalker is in the back pocket to save the day.
I love Voodoo, but again, probably not for radio. Have you all heard the preview of the other new song? Can't Let You Go ?

Definitely one of the biggest Idol bumps that I've seen. Reminds me of Natasha Bedingfield whose single sales went up +110% to 135k and her album also got a huge bump from #97 to #24. If the performance is good, the people will respond accordingly.
ETA: looked up Natasha's numbers. Katy Perry also had a huge bump last year (+180%) but her performance was awful so I have no idea how she managed that.

Yeah i wish we had more "gay" material on the radio, but im worried about the lyrics really and him singing them. "So I got my boots on, got the right 'mount of leather And I'm doing me up with a black color liner And I'm workin' my strut but I know it don't matter " haha. i mean I love it, dont get me wrong, but i dont know how middle america will react to hear a boy singing about putting on eyeliner and rolling with strippers. I'm sorta done with middle america. I wish there were more "loud and proud" songs and artists in their face. Seriously. I can't even imagine how much even further behind we'd be as a culture if we still stopped to care about what middle America thinks.

No doubt we are behind as an accepting society, but thats not the point. Its a business, and Middle America are customers. You cant shove a meat lovers pizza down a vegetarians throat.

I still think IIHY as a radio single is a mistake. a big one. i actually liked FYE better. They just should proccess his voice for songs like this. Listen to voodoo, you'll know what i mean. His unproccessed vocals upfront in songs like this are disaster.
OMG i remember Katy Perry last year, she couldn't hold a note, it was a mess. LoL I didn't even like the song (i liked Thinking of you better than Waking up in Vegas)

Here are my thoughts, whatever they are worth, if IIHY doesn't do well, maybe they will just do what they did with Adam the first time, or what they did with Kesha, realize a song isn't working and throw out another one. If IIHY tanks, here is Sleepwalker, problem solved, either way, I hope everything works out for him. And this may be my bias talking, but Katy Perry might have sounded like shit, but she had an embroidered Adam Lambert cape on, that alone made me want to buy her stuff, I think it helped with the bump in her song on itunes as well. JMO.

I think Daughtry had a big idol bump when they performed in S6 and Cook had a couple of big bumps too, including in the beginning of the season when he didn't perform but he was mentioned. The popular idol guys usually get good bumps. I was surprised last year when Archie didn't.

Yeah i feel that BBB and even YLIMD shoots up on the radio fast, but then fall just as fast. But, what do I know, she still is selling millions of copies. haha

The popular idol guys usually get good bumps. I was surprised last year when Archie didn't. I haven't been following Itunes bumps this year but for example based on last year Kelly, Carrie, Daughtry, Cook with one of his songs and Brooke all at least touched Top 10 on Itunes. There may have been more but I don't remember. The best Itunes jumps for ex alums tend to make the Top 5 for a brief amount of time. I know Carrie and Daughtry have gone higher then that with their last appearances. But again I haven't been tracking this year and with ratings having fallen so I don't have any idea how that may have affected sales this year. In general my experience has been that singles experience 2-3 day bumps on Itunes unless they make the Top 10. If they make Top 10 that front page advertisement kicks in and they'll hang there anywhere from 5-10 days. An exception was Kelly last year with MLWSWY. It entered the Top 10 and stayed for some weeks but it was a huge hit at the time and radio play certainly helped keep it there. Brooke was actually the one that surprised me. I don't think anyone had expected her to enter the Top 10. Speaking of non Idol's BEP and Katy Perry had some of the best Itune jumps after performances. Katy's appearance probably even helped that Vegas song of hers become a bigger radio hit then it might otherwise have.

Still at #10 on the Dutch chart, stuck there for three weeks now. It's been the 2nd most played song on Dutch radio the past month.

Did you even fully read the articles? Charice invited David to see her perform and supposedly they're dating. If you're gay and want him to be gay then I won't stop your fantasies lol

I'm sorry, I must have made a mistake. I thought this was the Whataya Want From Me thread, not the "Discussion of David Archuleta's sexuality" thread. My bad.
