When I first heard the album in full, IIHY immediately stuck out as the surefire hit of the album. I think it'll do very well. It's very FUN and Adam loves it, which is good.
I kind of wish this had been released in the Fall though, because I think a music video for IIHY shot entirely at Burning Man would have been amazing.
You can watch footage from Burning Man 2009 here. Coincidentally, this is the very same festival where Adam came to the realization/revelation that he should audition for American Idol:

I think its def one of the more catchy songs. It wasnt my favorite on the CD, but it was one of the firsts to be stuck in my head.

For those who missed it, Adam did "Fever" at the GLADD awards. www.maxtheboylion.com/2010/04/20/adam-lambert-performs-at-gladd-awards/Theres the video on the site. If a better version comes out ill post it, but this ones pretty good. He also performed Music Again, but there isnt a clear video for that out yet. If anybody finds one, please post. Also, his tour dates are posted for the "Glamnation" tour w/ Allison Iraheta and Orianthi.

Not sure about incorporating Burning Man into a video. It might not be wise to remind people of his neo-hippie experiences, complete with acid trips. I enjoy that stuff, but it might not be the sort of thing to encourage pds to play the song.

He won't do it, I just thought it'd be awesome. Besides, even if he wanted to, Burning Man is in August. Far, far too late for an IIHY music video to be filmed.
And please. Musicians and drugs go hand in hand. Adam wasn't the first and he won't be the last.
Absolutely nothing considering you yourself have admitted that you don't listen to pop music and only listen to classical music and "weird world music."
Let people who actually deal with pop radio for a living (like RCA) make the decisions.

Sex, drugs, and rock&roll, and the BM would make a great background for the song. But the pearl clutching that ensued when Adam talked about his happy trips at the BM for RS was not pretty. I want IIHY to be a hit, and I'm not sure if reminders of mushroom trips will help it on its way. What choice do I have but to let RCA and Adam decide on a single? Was there a poll I missed, or something? Experienced or not, I'm not alone in feeling some trepidation about this song; that seems to be the majority opinion. However, this is a done deal. I'm gonna buy the song and request it, and hope that it smashes.

No need to be mean Well, said, Max. :) The Burning Man idea would actually be kind of awesome, StarSprinkles. I am interested to see what they end up coming up with. :) I have no expertise in predicting what will do well on radio, so I have no idea if IIHY will do well or not, but I do agree with a lot of other people who have said that even if it's not their favorite song on the album, it's one they keep going back to. It's ridiculously fun to listen to, and I could see it being a total earworm on radio.

When will the adds date show up? If Adam is doing Wango Tango in May, the new single should be pushed just before then, right?

Secretchef- its hard to say when a new adds date will be given. Honestly, this has already been announced and confirmed as a new single, so I would imagine it to be sooner then later.
My concern is slightly that even with this being announced, no stations are spinning it yet. Most big artists (granted Adam isnt a huge artist) get airplay and adds far before the official adds date.

I haven't been following Itunes bumps this year but for example based on last year Kelly, Carrie, Daughtry, Cook with one of his songs and Brooke all at least touched Top 10 on Itunes. There may have been more but I don't remember. The best Itunes jumps for ex alums tend to make the Top 5 for a brief amount of time. I know Carrie and Daughtry have gone higher then that with their last appearances. But again I haven't been tracking this year and with ratings having fallen so I don't have any idea how that may have affected sales this year. In general my experience has been that singles experience 2-3 day bumps on Itunes unless they make the Top 10. If they make Top 10 that front page advertisement kicks in and they'll hang there anywhere from 5-10 days. An exception was Kelly last year with MLWSWY. It entered the Top 10 and stayed for some weeks but it was a huge hit at the time and radio play certainly helped keep it there. Brooke was actually the one that surprised me. I don't think anyone had expected her to enter the Top 10. Most of the examples provided here are not relevant at all imo. Brooke and Daughtry - in both their cases their albums weren't released yet and the only way to get their song was to buy it individually in Itunes. Brooke barely pass 50K that week. Kelly performed around the time her album was released, and it wasn't her only performance at that time. In Cook's case, he didn't even sell 40K from CBTM after his AI performance, so I doubt he even entered the top 10, and his performance of "Permanent" is irrelevant because all it earned was donated to charity, and people could have bought it for charity and not because they actually liked it. Apart from that, did any of those songs already sold over 860K and peaked at POP and then reached this increase and stayed at the top 10 in itunes for 6 days already? I doubt that. Bottom line is that Adam's post-AI jumps is one of the biggest, and achieved in a pretty mediocre season that constantly drops in ratings. I find it quite an achievement.

There's no reason to post daily updates anymore imo. We can post once it rises places at HAC in the HAC board but it peaked in Top 40 and will go recurrent at May 9. I hope they release IIHY soon and get it as much support as they can to help it rise.

Yeah, everything Lambert related has to be "the biggest", "millions". Of course Kelly, Carrie, Daughtry, Cook and Brooke are not relevant. There were not a mentor and did not have exposure of Idol's huge audience two days in a row.

If you gonna say he had a bigger exposure than they did, maybe you should mention that he was not featured in AI page in Itunes and didn't get any banner from AI when he was a mentor, whereas Alicia, who is the mentor this week, already has a banner all week, and while Cook's album was still featured in AI Itunes page, but Adam's wasn't. If he had this Itunes extra publicity he deserved from mentoring and performing at AI, his Itunes peak imo would have been higher than #7.

Maybe Itunes options were not in the free package for Lambert. He did not get it, because he did want to pay for it.

Just to head off the inevitable "get out of our thread you Hater" comments, I think WWFM is a really good song, Adam did a great job both as a mentor and performer last week, and the sales of WWFM this week are very impressive.
I would, however, like to add some context to the comments about Cook. I'm not trolling, or arguing with brb because she apparently knows more than everyone, but if you're going to throw another previous Idol's figures out there as a pale comparison to Adam, they should be accurate and in context. True, his bump for CBTM was not impresssive...at all. The album, however, did jump from 7300 the week before to 24,769 the week of the performance and 21,365 the following week, after already having sold 1.04 copies of the album, which included CBTM. So I doubt that RCA was that disappointed with the single sales/chart position for CBTM at that point.(later on is probably a different story)
Permanent, which was never a single, and was never played on radio in any format, was performed on a very crowded finale night and available both as a live charity version and the album version with the charity version selling 39K and the album version selling 64K the week of the finale and 22K/10K the week after (again, after 1.13 people already had the album including Permanent) So...I'm guessing some people downloaded it because they actually liked it not just to donate $1 to Brain Cancer Research.
All I'm saying is that Adam's WWFM bump this week is impressive enough without having to downplay previous idols equally impressive bumps to make it look better. [/end hater trolling]

kellyb-Cook used to be on top of the world, true. What happened? His latest song he performed on Idol didn't even sell enough to chart on any chart, and did nothing for his album sales.
Besides, Cook was playing to 5 million more people when he performed last year (CBTM) and 10 million more people than Adam was this year when he performed on the Finale of S8. Given that fact, Adam's WWFM sales are more impressive than Cook's bumps last year. I genuinely wonder how big Adam's bump would have been had he had Cook's extra 5-10 million more viewers.
When given the exact same audience this year, Cook couldn't sell enough to chart, and Adam had a ginormous bump. That speaks volumes.

Cook did a live cover of some Rolling Stones song. His appearance was irrelevant and he wasn't promoting anything.

S7 and S8 were pretty different, I don't get the comparisons at all. And Idol is over, time for them all to play in the sandbox on their own. Glad to see the new AI for WWFM.
