Some producers she should definitively work with again: James Wright James Poyser Scram Jones Manuel Seal Los Da Mystro DJ Toomp Trackmasters Dave Hall I'm on board w/ most of those. I was thinking the other day it'd be good if she did more with James Wright and James Poyser- those were some of the most classic moments of TEOM. Not sure about Dave Hall- she hasn't worked with him since Daydream, right? I really, also, want her to work with producers that she hasn't worked with before.

I want to hear a Carey/Ronson collaboration..that would definitely produce a much-needed new sound for Mariah.......plus more live instruments and less electronically-produced clicks and/or claps

She really should reconnect with Ben Marguiles, or others from the debut era. She was so into recreating looks recently from back in the day, why not revisit some old collaborators?

I'd like her to work with Bo1-da, James Poyser, Kanye, Trackmasters, Rich Harrison, and Andrea Martin.

I agree, she should give it a bash and see what they come up with. It might not work, or it might just recover some magic again! She surely must know how many fans want her to try collaborate with Walter A, again after the rumours during the Memoirs writing stage and the resulting frenzy on Twitter! She got to see the demand directly I guess....!

This will probably never happen, but what would a Max Martin-Mariah collaboration sound like?
I'd like more Big Jim Wright, give me JD back, and Mark Ronson isn't bad either.

Big yes to bringing DJ Toomp back. "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time" was her most infectious song in years.
I'd agree to bringing in a new batch of producers. Memoirs... is a great album. I'm not denying that. However, I am craving something fresh from Mariah on her next album. Like I said before, she is starting to get stale; everything from her image to her sound. Maybe I'm just burnt-out or maybe I am expecting more from her at this point. Either way, I'm bored and I hope she surprises me.

Would be good to see a drastic image change for the next album...get herself a little concept look going on for the videos perhaps (not quite as drastic as Gaga mind, she certainly wouldn't pull that one off!).
It's about time Mariah got herself an 'edge' - I have no idea what that could/would be though lol
I'm sure she has got it in her still though. Last time her sales were flat, she went off and surprised us with TEOM. If she doesn't decided to go start a family already, maybe she'll take a bit of time and come back with something fresh again.

Mariah can be this megastar and can be talented, but the words "Mariah" and "edge" just cannot be together in a sentence.... unless you have "has no" in the middle.
To me, she'll come back looking exactly the same as usual and with the same music style of always. I'm not saying she won't be succesful. She may make it big again. Who knows. At this point, after two albums that haven't done great, she really needs to think this one very very well.
Believe me, I would be VERY HAPPY to be WRONG WRONG WRONG if Mariah takes chances and comes up with something different. Now if she shows any edge at all, I may even pass out from the big impression!!

I think there was some sort of falling out because they did not work together ever again after the debut album. I think the falling out may have been more to do w/ Sony than anything between the two of them. Anyhow, I wanted them to work together again back in like 92-93, but now I don't think so. It would just seem like a quantum leap backwards- almost as bad as her going and working with Afanasieff again, which some fans seem to want.

I don't think it has to be a leap backwards....if you think about Mariah and Walter's initial stuff together, and then something like My All then you see they definitely progressed their sound with the time. I don't think there would be any reason why they wouldn't be able to come up with something great, and not stuck in the past. Do I think it's going to happen? Not a chance!
I'd like to see Mariah work with Babyface again :)

Whenever time challenged Carey, she surprised everyone.
When she was criticized for her boring schmaltzy music, she released her most acclaimed album to this time (Daydream) and took risks (ODB) for the first time. After her divorce she was rumoured to go under without Mottola at her side. What happened? She proved everyone wrong. Great album, superb music videos, a surprisingly good tour etc. And last but not least... TEOM!

It would just seem like a quantum leap backwards- almost as bad as her going and working with Afanasieff again, which some fans seem to want. There was a contract dispute where Ben got Mariah to sign a contract saying he was entitle to half of everything she made (not just production or songwriting royalties). Sony helped Mariah get out of that (terrible) contract for her, and Ben and Mariah never worked again after that. Here's an excerpt from MC Archives: One thing that would change, though, was her relationship with Ben Margulies. Their profound and profilic partnership ended as the new album started: Carey had never been straightforward as to the reason. "Be careful what you sign," she hinted darkly to Q magazine, adding: "You hear it a thousand times and I heard it a thousand times. When you're struggling you still do it. I blindly signed. Later, I tried to make it right so we could continue our professional, our artistic relationship, but he wouldn't accept it. What can you do?" Whether she elaborated "off the record" is not known, but her interviewer's understanding was that before they signed with Columbia the pair had entered into a contract that gave Ben Margulies nearly half the millions of dollars she earned from her debut album rather than just the music publishing to which he was clearly entitled.

Mariah needs to work with ALL new producers. She only has another 6 or 7 years left to get mainstream airplay. She's already one of the oldest artists on radio now. She just needs to do a complete POP album and do her R&B remixes to get urban airplay.

Whoever she works with, I hope they don't allow her to get away with her whisper voice. I understand at one point it worked for her but that was when her vocals were pristine and you could actually understand the words she was saying.
And yeah, mixing up her sound a little would be refreshing.

Totally agree on the whisper thing....even now she sometimes uses it effectively. But for the most part, it is pretty difficult to work out what she is saying; I have no idea what the first verse of Skydiving is about!! The thing I don't understand is that it seems at no point has anyone involved in making these records stood up and pointed this fact out, especially people like the producers who have a vested interest in the quality of the work! Says a lot about the people around her I guess......

I like the stuff on Glitter for the most part...I'm mostly thinking of some of the stuff on Rainbow that was just...ok. For example, Can't Take That Away- as much as it seems to be a fan favorite, I have always found it, especially the production, to be pretty ho hum. TGIFY is one of Mariah's weakest singles as well, IMO. Maybe it's not so much that I don't like her work with them, as much as I LOVED their stuff with Janet and was expecting something more like that. I think she has better chemistry w/ other producers, which is why she does not work with them anymore.

"Memoirs" is an amazing album, what she should have did was put some of the featured artist from the supposed remix album on the regular album altogether. Heres what i would do, rerecord the remix all over for Memoir's and add 4 new spectacular songs, and rerelease it. "It's a Wrap" "Ribbon" remix and "Betcha Gon" could have been hit singles, the proper singles just weren't released. "Up Out My Face" probably would have been huge had she released it after "Obsessed".

She should work with Poser,Dupri,Tedder,Ronsin,Toomp,Walter A.,Manuel Seal,Jimmy & Terry,Timbaland, heres a little twist for her Diane Warren & the judge from American Idol, D'ioguardio i think. She should do more mid-tempos, crossover ballads r&b and international music, also spice up her image.

By the way, Billboard 200 90. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (up 55) This album won't die yet, i think it's not only because Easter, but also Adult Contemporary buyers. Maybe she should try a more AC-oriented album?
