Not nearly as many as her st@ns would like to believe...
Nasty That's The Way Love Goes Rhythm Nation ...
... thats pretty much it. Most of Janet's hits are pretty forgotten, actually. They're great songs, but they're not all that remembered. Janet doesn't have a "Girls Just Wanna Have Fune" or "Straight Up."

To be honest I can't remember any of her singles outside of the ones released from the albums Control and Rhythm Nation. Maybe That's The Way Love Goes could be argued as a classic along with the major singles from the last two albums I mentioned beforehand.

Um...honestly, not many.
She was huge back in the day but I don't believe her catalog has aged well, at all. But I guess That's the Way Love Goes and Rhythm Nation. The rest, not sure...

Keep in mind, Janet is more than just pop. She's a multi-genre artists, unlike many.

Keep in mind, Janet is more than just pop. She's a multi-genre artists, unlike many. That still doesn't change anything. When I think of classics I tend to think of songs that immediately jump into my head and of the options listed I would say I think of Control, Rhythm Nation, That's The Way Love Goes, Nasty and just for the video Love Will Never Do (Without You).

Yes it does. If you step into the world of R&B, Janet has many classic songs. If you go into dance, she has plenty of classics there as well. In terms of pop, Control and RN1814 are her most celebrated works. Though, imo, the singles from RN1814 haven't aged as well as those of Janet. and Velvet Rope.

For me, it's Doesn't Really Matter. That was so much Janet combined in a single song.

I've listened to R and B stations, Dance stations and CHR stations all of my life and I still stick by the songs I have chosen above as the most memorable Janet singles. She may very well have had more successes with janet. and The Velvet Rope in the 90's as far as R and B goes and she may be getting more dance hits as of late, but I don't think any of them stick out in the minds of the masses like with Control and RN. Perhaps you are thinking of cult hits?

Well that's partly due to the 90s still in the "ol skool" to "classic" transition. But in the R&B world, I Get Lonely, Anytime Anyplace, That's The Way Love Goes, and even What's It Gonna Be are considered classic.
