Speaking of Missy, I think she had to prove that she was as marketable as the other female rappers. We know her image and appearance were very instrumental to her success. She went from this very heavy androgynous woman to a slimmed down b-girl. Each album cover shows her transformation. She had music videos that were different from her fellow sister female rappers at the time. They were fun, simple, hilarious, and irresistible. Her albums were loaded with guest artists, who were either established (Aaliyah) or were just introduced to the mainstream audience (Eminem). Some may argue that she was using them for sales. Maybe 50 Cent was partially responsible for Under Construction going double platinum. From an artistic standpoint, those artists compliment the respective songs. Ludacris and Jay-Z, for example, appeared on alternative versions to "One Minute Man" playing two types of men, an "all nighter" and a "1 min. man" respectively. Also, five of those six albums she released were produced by Timbaland, who was at the height of his career as an R&B and Hip Hop producer. Also, I believe he was responsible for giving Missy hits like "Get Ur Freak On", "Hot Boyz", and "Work It".

I like Missy but she has like 4 flops between her hits. I'd say Eve is more consistent in a way. She doesn't release much but Who's That Girl, Let Me Blow Ya Mind, Gangsta Lovin, Satisfaction, Tambourine, 1 Thing, Rich Girl were all pretty big hits.

Every last one of her albums have been certified Platinum, except the last one, which scanned over 700k. She has more top 10 hits, more Grammys, and she produces hits for other artists when she isn't working on her own stuff. Songs like "Work It," "Get Ur Freak On," "Lose Control," "Hot Boyz," "Gossip Folks," "1, 2 Step," "One Minute Man," and a slew of other hits surpass Eve's handful of hits. Eve isn't even competition as far as success goes.

How was 50 Cent responsible for Under Construction going Double Platinum? 50 Cent was only featured on the remix of "Work It" and that was a hidden track. Plus, "Work It" was already a huge hit before the label decided to service the remix to Urban radio. UC went Double Platinum because it was her best and most commercial album to date. 50 Cent had absolutely nothing to do with the success of that album at all. And I also don't think Timbaland was such a huge deal in Missy's success either. Actually, I think the crossover success of Missy, Aaliyah, Ginuwine and a slew of others were just as helpful to Tim's career as a Pop producer as his productions were to their careers and successes. If they hadn't had any crossover success, I doubt Tim would be producing records for even bigger Pop stars, such as Nelly Furtado, Madonna and Justin Timberlake. They probably wouldn't have given him the time of day.

I'm gonna agree with your pressed soul for once. St EVE could never release three classics back-to-back-to-back. Does he even have three albums to his name? Tambourine was fire, but it was assuredly not a hit. No ma'am.

Fun fact: Missy refers to Fiddy as 50 Cents in the thank yous of Under Construction. Purposeful name getting wrong shade is among my fave kinds.

Missy is a heavy hitter I must say. But for your information her last album was shelfed. Block Party was gonna come out but they decided not to because the second single flopped harder then Lil Kim's attempt to restart her carrer, hence her single "Download" lol. Eve also had one album shelf. It was gonna be called Here I Am with Tambourine being the lead single which did amazing at the time and they should have marketed her second single with Sean Paul better. But I think her new attempt Lip Lock will do good. Lets hope Missy and Eve come out with something fast cause I want more female rappers to be dropping albums consistantly like........ well I dont need to say names you know the name lol.

I always laughed at that, and you can tell it was shade because he made a diss about her and she mentioned it in the Thank Yous. And, Block Party was not shelved; she is still releasing that album. "Ching a Ling" was featured on the Step Up 2 soundtrack and was rumored to be on the album. It wasn't the first single.

^^^ Nobody is checking for Trina the trans. I don't think anyother female rapper that is mainstream has came out with an album since 2005 ?.. I might be wrong, so please correct me... Remy Ma? Shawnna? Rasheeda? Khia? Foxy Brown? Jacki-O? La Chat? Lil' Mama? Yes, you might be wrong...very wrong.

Ok... Ok... enough about which female rapper sells more... List the Top 10 female rappers that are the best at spitting lyrics. Lets forget about numbers for now... Explain why you picked the ones you picked for the Top 5 and just list the Top 6-10 without explaining... Here are my Top 10...
1. Shawnna (fastest female rapper period & she spit crack lol) 2. Trina (because when she go hard, she goes HARD ! Plus she spits real shit, sex, money, the streets and it all goes with the song unlike most rappers rapping about something that doesn't pertain to the song) 3. Nicki Minaj (new, fresh, crazy, the female lil wayne - enough said lol) 4. Remy Ma (this bitch shoulda been a dude, she spits real street talk and her songs go harder then most males) 5. Foxy Brown ( raunchy, and she would chew you up and spit fire if given the chance, plus she cocky which is bad for her career but good as a lyrisist) 6.Ebony Eyez 7.Eve 8.Da Brat 9.Lil Kim 10.Rasheeda

Ok Ill give you Remy Ma, Shawnna, and Lil MaMa my bad. Brooklyn Don Diva charted at like number 80 on Billboard and it was on a indie label. I'm talking about heavy hitters like the females that were signed to major record labels between the years of 2005-now. Like Missy (Atlantic), Trina (EMI), Shawnna (Def Jam), Remy Ma (SRC Records it was look it up)ect.... I cant name more off the top of my head... and Brooklyn Don Diva's label was Black Hand which is indie.... so only major labels no indie labels hunny, thanks a bunches

All Eve albums have been certified Platinum except the last one too (630k) Of course Missy sold more and is more succesful overall but what I meant is they have around same numbers of hits... I know she hit it big at times but arguably she hasn't had a hit in 5 years and those all pretty much flopped: "Sock It 2 Me", "Beep Me 911", "Hit Em Wit Da Hee", "She's a Bitch", "All N My Grill", "Lick Shots", "Take Away", "Back in the Day", "Pussycat", "I'm Really Hot", "Teary Eyed", "We Run This", "Ching-a-Ling", "Shake Your Pom Pom", "Best, Best"

Sock it 2 me was #4 R&B; Beep Me #13. Regardless of the others' chart success, these are classic records. Show me an S-T-E-V-E flop that can call itself a classic, that sounds fresh today, that altered the course of hip hop / R and B music?!?!?!

Under Construction didn't receive the double platinum certification until mid-to-late 2003. 50 Cent already had a multiplatinum album at the time. Under Construction even had the little advertising sticker reminding people that 50 Cent was on the remix to "Work It". I was just using him as an example of how Missy and Elektra use hot-at-the-moment artists to boost sales. The case with 50 is the urban audience already knew who he was. The pop audience, who was listening and buying her stuff at the time didn't know until "In Da Club" and "21 Questions" dropped.

Trina's albums aint shelved because her label NEVER expects them to do much anyway. Well since everybody seems to think Wikipedia is a credible source... "In June 2009, in an interview with Elle Magazine, Missy Elliott stated that the album would be released in Autumn 2009, but was eventually pushed back a 4th time to January of 2010."... 4 times... REALLY ? 4 times since its original release in Dec. 2007 ? Wow.......... So it was shelfed......... and Cling a Ling & Best Best were attempts at first singles ......... "On January 9, 2008, Elliott's official website announced the release of "Ching-a-Ling" as lead single confirming that the track will feature on the upcoming studio album. Another song called "Shake your Pom-Pom" will appear on "Block Party". In June 2008, a song called "Best Best" leaked on the internet and was said to be the lead single of "Block Party"....... Just saying since everybody on the board thinks Wikipedia is a credible source to cite.

Oh....you sure told me...?? Did I strike a nerve?? "Brooklyn's Don Diva is a street album and mixtape from American hip-hop artist Foxy Brown. Released on May 13, 2008,[1] it was intended to be the follow-up to 2001's Broken Silence. According to Rolling Stone magazine, the album would be released prior to Black Roses, the album that she has been working on since 2004 and was recorded in Chung King Studios in New York City. However, Brown has claimed that the album is not her fourth studio album, but rather a mixtape release." So it was a mixtape... Thank you. BTW I can't wait for Black Roses, it's been a long time coming.
