You know, after she gets out of her RCA contract, I really, really think she should go country and never look back. She'd be an absolutely incredible country artist. She's not like Carrie or Taylor or Martina. She'd be more "rock" and soulful. I think she could make a fine living as a country singer for as long as she wants to sing.

I don't think she pulls of country convincingly at all. She needs to stay pop/rock and just release acoustic tracks (if she insists), but I'd rather her get a another major label deal and release more mainstream music.

^ Yes, I really hope she gets signed to another major label! Hopefully, she gets to go to a label that will treat her better, and give her more creative control, but still retain her signature pop/rock sound for the most part.

I think she'd make an incredible country artist and she proved she could pull it off brilliantly when she toured with Reba. Also she did a wonderful job on several country songs she sang for the AIEW Tour pre-shows. Personally I'd rather she stayed in Pop but I have a feeling one day that she'll definitely put out a country album. I'd buy it.

Well, I don't think Taylor Swift pulls off "country music" convincingly at all, but apparently the country music higher ups and music buying public disagree with me since she is showered with Country awards and people buy her albums in the millions.
Eh. I still think Kelly would be an amazing country artist. I really do.

Kelly would do great with country, as I've said from the beginning. Her bluesy, more soulful style of country (a la Wynonna or Trisha) isn't the "in" thing right now but she could bring it in.

Hahaha, I have search the meaning of kelly's name and got:
1. War 2. A warrior and connotes aggressiveness and strife 3. nature especially spring time and woods 4.Grove
There are various theories regarding its origins; according to many people it is mainly of Gaelic origin and was originally used as a surname referring to the Irish O' Kelly clan. The name became popular as a first name for boys; though later mainly because of World famous Academy Award winning actress Grace Kelly the name started being used for girls too.
for Brianne:
1. Noble 2. Strong 3.God is Gracious

jpsketch at the Express posted this today... Seth Rudetsky deconstructs Kelly Clarkson This guy is really funny, but as an expert in the business, he obviously is spot on when it comes to acknowledging the difficulty level in all the numerous vocal riffs and octave changes that Kelly did and is known for today. I never watched the first season of Idol when it aired, but it should be said that after watching this performance, my immediate thought was actually how much the last several years' of contestants pale in comparison to such an incredible, versatile vocalist and performer, like Kelly.

I agree with her not doing a country/pop sound. I could actually see her being successful with a folky/americana sounding country. I guess it just all falls on personal taste. I honestly can't see any genre that I WOULDN'T enjoy hearing Kelly sing. Ok, except maybe that growling metal sound via Kittie and Otep. For me, I love me some acoustic Kelly the best....stripped down production with that voice taking center stage.

Yeah, it's so amazing to see professional vocal coaches praise her like that. *goes to watch Kelly's Idol performances*. Her riffs and growls were so awesome.

All people do in this thread and all her single threads is debate what style she should sing and what her next singles should be...and they're long debates. I think that's a good thing :) Show's how extremely versatile she really is and how many genres she could pull off an album on

Although I'm quite sure I would love it, I don't want Kelly going country. If anything I wish she'd put out a blues record.

I think she could own the country market ... her cover of Keith Urban's Tonight I Wanna Cry is breathtaking www.youtube.com/watch?v=emv_Wd7sqCIembedding is not working out, sorry

I think she may do a country album, but I don't think she'd stick to it. Nashville and country radio are way too restrictive and conservative, especially with female singers, for someone as opinionated as Kelly. She could never stick to a genre like that...remember the Dixie Chicks?

I want Kelly to keep doing pop for the only reason that it plays internationally and allows her the chance to see the world.
However, she could sing blues or country and I'd still buy it. Long as she's singing something, I'm happy.

You mean winning Grammy's despite the controversies because they put out great music. Finally being awarded for their songwriting? Ok, I'll take that! HELLO! The Dixie Chicks won for a song called "I'm Not Ready To Make Nice" Your post deserves this:

You seriously didn't compare the DCX writing to Kelly's. Nobody in mainstream music writes songs like them.

You know exactly what I mean.. Kelly ending in a sort of controversy like them, by talking wayyyy to much... I love kelly, But she needs to shut up sometimes... I get so incredibly bothered by the idea that people think Kelly (or anyone, really) should just shut up and go with the flow. Just...no. Keep on fightin', Kelly! It's your music and your career. Make it worth your while (and talents).

The Dixie Chicks picked a fight with their own fans. Kelly would never make that mistake. Well The words that the lead singer said, were just simple words, expressing her feelings about a War that was going on... Well the same thing could happen to kelly... Lets say Obama called Kesha a Dirty little Slut... Even dough he is right, kelly is going to jump up and write a block, about how disrespectful he is.. Then Obama is going to do anything to do in his power to break her and he will succeed.. Note for you Kelly: Don't ever go talking negative about a politician or else ya done....
